On March 20, the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Washington, Surplus Line Association of Washington, Insurance Brokers and Agents of the West, Property Casusalty Insurers, American Insurance Association, Washington Council of National Association of Insurance Women, and Greater Seattle Insurance Professionals are joining for an All Industry Day at the state capitol.
The event qualifies for four continuing education credits and will feature a keynote address from Washington Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler. A panel also will discuss issues relating to writing contractors: certificate of insurance, construction defect and homeowners warranties. And a panel of insurance lobbyists — Bill Stauffacher, Tom Parker of Surplus Line Association of Washington, Steve Buckner of IBA West, Mel Sorensen of PCI and Allstate, Gary Strannigan of Safeco, and Carrie Tellefson of Progressive — will discuss the state legislative issues facing the industry. Attorney General Rob McKenna and Sen. Jean Berkey, chair of the Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, are scheduled to share their thoughts on issues challenging agents in the 2007 legislative session.
