Encino, Calif.-based NAS Insurance Services has enhanced its Medefense Plus insurance by automatically including coverage for Stark proceedings. In addition, NAS is offering solo physician practitioners and physician groups the opportunity to add disciplinary proceedings coverage to their Medefense Plus policies.
Coverage for Stark proceedings provides reimbursement of defense costs and civil fines and penalties arising from state or federal government proceedings investigating alleged federal, state or local anti-kick back or self-referral laws.
Coverage for disciplinary proceedings provides a sub-limit for reimbursement of defense costs arising from medical board investigations alleging unprofessional conduct.
The insurance is available nationally and provided by Lloyd’s of London.
