Anyone serving or selling alcohol on property owned by Carbon County, Wyo., had better have $1 million in liability coverage.
County commissioners say the purpose of requiring liability insurance is to shield the county government from any lawsuits that could result from alcohol-related accidents.
The new rule mainly affects the Carbon County fairgrounds. Members of the county Fair Board say they’ll need to pay $4,000 to carry liability insurance over the week of the county fair.
The rules also will apply to weddings, reunions, dances and other events where alcohol is served on county property in Carbon County.
