The Alliance of Insurance Agents & Brokers announced that Michael D’Arelli has been named the association’s executive director and chief operating officer. D’Arelli has replaced David G. Nielsen, who has retired.
“Michael D’Arelli has been instrumental in expanding the Alliance’s core group of member benefits,” Nielsen said. “Mr. D’Arelli’s crowning achievements include creation of an admitted, members-only E&O program and the creation of the Alliance Gateway – a program that provides members with coveted personal and commercial lines markets without the need for a direct appointment.”
Prior to joining the Alliance as executive vice president in 2006, D’Arelli was the vice president of legislative and regulatory affairs at the Western Insurance Agents Association and served as a lobbyist for a variety of corporations, associations and governmental agencies. He lobbied for the passage of AB 2956 and worked closely with IBA West to protect broker-agents from unwarranted litigation.
