Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano officially submitted her resignation on Tuesday, Jan., 20, 2009, the same day she was confirmed as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security in President Barak Obama’s Administration.
“It has been my honor to serve the people of Arizona as Governor. I look forward to continuing to serve Arizona, our new president, and all of the people of our great nation in my new role…” Napolitano wrote in her resignation letter.
Secretary of State Jan Brewer will fill out the remaining two years in Napolitano’s term as governor.
