California Insurance Commissioner Poizner has appointed Sara Flocks, of San Francisco and Lee Pearson, of Rancho Murieta to the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau Governing Committee.
Pearson, currently retired, most recently served as the general vice president of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers. He has worked representing labor since 1978, starting as a business representative at a local lodge. Pearson’s entire career has been in labor, working in a number of capacities. Pearson studied labor at San Diego City College and is a trustee with the Guide Dogs of America.
Flocks serves as the public policy coordinator for the California Labor Federation. She has worked in labor for more than 10 years, serving as an organizer for the AFL-CIO, a policy specialist for the Center for Labor Research and Education, and a senior program coordinator for Corporate Accountability International.
The WCIRB Governing Committee is comprised of 12 members: seven private insurers; State Compensation Insurance Fund; and four public members, two representing insured employers and two representing organized labor. Lee and Flocks are filling the two “organized labor” spots.
