California Police Find Pot Warehouse After Fire

Oakland police say they've uncovered at least 1,000 marijuana plants after a fire in a warehouse.

Fire officials say it took crews about 10 minutes to get the fire under control in the one-story warehouse in East Oakland Tuesday evening.

Oakland Fire Department Battalion Chief Eleanor Bolin-Chew says the blaze was contained to mainly the attic, with none of the marijuana plants catching on fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

More than a dozen police officers arrived on the scene of the fire, shortly after it was contained, according to the Oakland Tribune. The owners of the building were on hand as well, but had no comment.

The incident is the second fire in a pot-growing facility in Oakland in recent days. On Oct. 9, police found what they termed a "very sophisticated'' indoor marijuana operation in a two-story building in West Oakland during a small electrical fire.

Police estimated that there were more than 350 marijuana plants in that building, with an estimated street value of $350,000 to $750,000.
