Van Nuys, Calif.-based Momentous Insurance Brokerage has formed a specialty practice exclusive to sports to provide risk management and insurance solutions for athletes, coaches and teams. According to President Diane Brinson, she aims to grow the practice into the largest sports practice in the United States within two years.

Sales Executive Steve Rivera was named to the Sports Division. He specializes in the affluent market, providing insurance solutions for athletes and other high net worth clientele. He has knowledge in providing solutions for high profile professional athletes in the NFL, NBA and MLB. The division will help athletes handle their complex lifestyles, recognizing that an athlete has risks on and off the field, he said. This is referred to internally as the “complete athlete,” which describes Momentous’ holistic risk management approach to protecting an athlete’s assets and livelihood.

In addition, the Momentous Sports Division will concentrate on designing insurance programs for sports-related businesses, including those professional services providers previously mentioned, along with sporting events, venues, coaches and more.

Also heavily involved in the new initiative is:

• Sales Executive Zach Staggs, who has an extensive background in sales and customer service;

• David Toth, chief operations officer;

• John Jacen, vice president;

• Craig Warren, assistant vice president; and

• Rochelle Brotter, assistant vice president;
