CSE Insurance Captures Holiday Cheer with Card Design Contest

To liven up its holiday cards this year, CSE Insurance Group ran a contest in which the children and grandchildren of its agents submitted artwork. The card illustration contest “enabled us to involve our agent force on a fun level. What parent or grandparent doesn’t enjoy bragging on their children or grandchildren? Second, kids often have a better grasp on what the holidays are about than we do! It’s good to see this time of year through their eyes,” said Vice President of Market Strategy and Business Development Matt Hull.

The contest guidelines were minimal: keep the design on the general side, and let creativity run wild. “Anything that could fit on a piece of paper, we encouraged,” Hull noted. “Crayons, markers, cut-outs, felt, glitter, you name it. And the kids responded.”

Whittling down the entries to the winning four for the holiday cards and six for the calendar was, according to Hull, “a brutal process.” Agents were encouraged to select their favorites on the company’s Facebook page, and employees also voted. Originally, the Walnut Creek, Calif.-based company had planned to give the winners a gift card to Toys-R-Us, but in the spirit of the season, it was decided to give one to all the entrants along with the creators of the entries selected for use.
