Without knowing details of the claim, it actually seems like a reasonable settlement for once.

I’m not sure what a reasonable time would be to repair the road. San Bernardino County is huge. It’s about 160 miles from the county seat to the state line. Rain in the desert almost always causes flash flooding of some sort and roads get damaged or washed away. In an area as vast as the county that’s a lot of road repair and they are cash strapped to begin with. You may be right but I’m left with a lot of questions.

i think part of the blame is on the driver of motorcycle.a person takes a certain amount of risk on any road, safety is not guaranteed by any means,i drive about 150,000 miles a year as my job,and i see some really bad roads.sounds like nature caused this,so will you sue if hit by a tornado?or a rock slide?how about a snowstorm in the mountains?or a deer running in front of you? like i said, the driver should take the blame, like looking ahead ,not just 10 feet ahead, but as far as you can see ahead.

question would be — do they now have enough money to fix the road or anything else since they are paying 3 mil? or even better, is that tax collection going up because of this?

next thing you know, not only did they probably collect on their own insurance and now the county… are they going to civil court and ask mother nature to help pay? after all, it was a flash flood from her that wiped out the road…

So wrong to release the dumb ass driver from his responsibility watch for road hazards. How about suing the rain for the flash flood that caused the rut?

Oh, I guess that’s what Wudchuck said.

So can I go out on my motorcycle after it snows in Colorado and then, if I wreck, sue the city if the roads weren’t clear in time for me to ride?
