Just a reminder- This is not Honda’s fault. The feds provide the mpg figures that Honda has to use. I went through this same issue when I was working for another Japanese car manufacturer and we were forced to advertise inflated fuel economy figures. I remember it well because I worked in a zone office and had to speak to angry consumers who could not achieve the federal fuel economy figures.
I remember buying a ’73 AMC Javelin because the ads said a buyer would have to beat the girls off with a stick. Needless to say, I had to beat the car with a stick regularly.
Better a Javelin that a Pacer…remember those fishbowls?
Pacers were actually cool. If you were desperate for humiliation from anyone within eyesight. They sure weren’t as cool, though, as my Levis’ Gremlin with denim upholstery.
Ahh the Gremlin. That beats my Chevy Vega. 1972 rust-bucket, but it got me where I needed.
Bottom line is the judge went into this looking for a reason to over turn the decision. The higher court is using this as an example to dissuade people from opting out of cases that have been approved for class action status.
Water Bug is correct, this was nothing but a money grab. What part of “Estimated” fuel economy did this person not understand? “Your mileage may vary.” Guess she didn’t want to read that part.
