I hope the “he” you mean is President Obama. It is his campaign that uses “GM is Alive, Osama is dead” as a campaign rally and these thugs were yelling something like “we are all Osamas, Obama.”

I think it’s their anger at his football spiking. I haven’t heard any of them say it was a movie, only our media and sympathetic govt officials.

Free speech should be protected. BUT that shouldn’t be a wall to hide behind to escape the results of their opinions being aired. The old boy probably doesn’t have a criminal exposure, but I hope he has assets that can be attached by the surviving family members in this horrible incident.

Whay cannot The Feds apologize for the crassness / stupidity of some of our citizens, and educate the world about one of the benefits of a country which allows one to speak their mind (defining whats ‘within reason’)?

      1. We should never apologize to a group of thugs and terrorists about one of our citizens.

      2. No one is using free speech as a “wall.” Terrorists and thugs are using a movie as a “wall” to attack our country.

      3. Have the terrorists said they were upset about a movie. Plese link me to their press conference or statement.

      4. If Obama and Biden didn’t have a campaign of “Osama is dead” then perhaps these thugs and terrorists would calm down. They were yelling “there are lots of Osamas, Obama.” I think Obama has caused this problem with his football spiking more than any stupid movie.

C’mon, Wayne, stop spreading your right-wing agenda like its peanut butter on a hot sidewalk.

What are we supposed to do while this situation escalates? Just add it to the stories about “inadvertent” Koran burning by troops in-theater, snappy pix of scantily-clad ‘guests’ at Abu Gharaib, ministers down south who want their 15 minutes of ugly fame, shrug our collective shoulders and say “well, that’s just too bad”? Isnt that policy by avoidance?

Maybe we should protest in front of the foreign embassies for Egypt and Yemen (do the Libyah’s have one yet) and burn their flags and effigies? Or maybe send in a guided missle cruiser or two and lob a few rocks their way? And when there’s more collateral damage say “oops; human shields”?

Certainly it is stupid to think that the US should be held accountable for viral videos – it was the actions of fools and miscreants which need to be explained on a larger context.

        WWWD?

First, you could stop blaming America for the acts of thugs and terrorists. Why do you have this knee jerk reaction?

Your little line may sound cute, but it’s the truth. The terrorists were yelling that “we are all Osama.” That’s a fact. Why do you think they were doing that? They called out “obama” and not a movie maker’s name. What do you think that this? Take off your blinders.

What do we do you ask? It’s not limit our freedoms because a group of terrorists are upset and decide to kill people over a movie or picture of women. Listten to yourself.

Wain, I didnt ask ‘what would we do’.

I asked ‘what would WAYNE do’.

Bomb them back to the Stone Age? Put cordons around the cordons? Add more military men and women to absorb a few more blasts and shatter a few more families? Go eye-for-eye? Maybe tell the local governments to get out on the streets and control their own mobs?

Or just ignore the mess and blame it on opportunistic extremists who just look for excuses to throw a party, or a brick?

Surely you must have ONE idea.

            Reality,

I notice how you like to skip over all the questions that I asked of you.

What Wayne would do is not of importance. What the president is doing is of importance. And what he has done (“Osama is dead! Vote for me, I did it.). That matters, not what Wayne has done.

So, what is Obama doing. He “strongly condems” it. Gee, thanks.

Yes, ours is a world governed by the aggressive use of force. We must use force. Why can’t this president even use the phrase “war on terror?”

You may wish to capitulate to thugs and terrorists and change the way you talk and restrict our freedoms. Wayne is not.

The rules of free speech should include provisions that if one takes a stand, then one should have to face those that are in opposition to such stand. I’d love to see both of them face those who were insulted by the film. If they believe in what they stated in the film, then by all means, don’t be a coward, step up in front of those insulted and stand your ground.

This comment is just funny. Throughout history nearly everyone has had a religion. It’s not the religion, it’s the person.

Now on the side of Athiest as a percentage of the population, it was a push toward atheism that caused WWII, and they were less than 5% of the population at the time. That was genocide. The Japenese tried to wipe the Japense off the planet, and they also tried to do away with religion, Hitler tried to do away with Jews, and to do away with Religion, it doesn’t matter that he was raised Catholic look up his famous speech where he talked about doing away with God in society so that we could become the creators and God’s of our own destiny in the name of science and progression blah blah. He said religion was a block that had to be destroyed. It was powerful stuff that youngin’s bought into then thinking religion was a problem, and I see they still do based on your comment etc. I would go on, but I don’t see the need.

Radical muslims do tend to be a problem though. I’ll agree there. They actually practice the parts of their bible that allow them to do “honor” killings. Christianity as a religion does not, and most religions do not.

However to circle back around, don’t use the “more people have been killed in the name of religion” comment. It’s not true, it’s misleading, and allows the actions of men to be considered to have been caused due to religion. It was their action, not the religion’s.

“More people have been killed in the name of religion” is a true statement. Nobody said it was religion that was killing, it was men IN THE NAME OF religion. Catholics against Protestants in Ireland, Muslims and Jews for forever, the Spanish Inquisition, the Church of England and I could go on. Many people have killed due to radical beliefs in their religion and using that to justify killing.

There is plenty of evidence that the crazies who murdered our citizens were part of a well planned and fairly sophisticated plot to avenge the recent deaths of some terrorist leaders who got fried by a drone in Pakistan. The video is being used as an excuse to hide the true nature of the attacks.

I am a Catholic and I am not pleased with the way my church is being attacked by the Obamatrons. I do not nor will I ever murder innocent people because I was offended by a movie or a song or a cartoon. The only religious group engaged in regular rounds of mayhem and hate killing is the Muslims. Catholics and Jews may have engaged in religious persecution in the distant past but we do not behave that way any more.

Our leaders should NEVER apologize for our freedom of speech and religion.

I am going to go out on a limb and estimate that while I agree with you and have a lot in common with you, the majority of the world does NOT share your beliefs or values, or your sense of right and wrong on some issues.

We have to walk a mile in the other persons shoes to understand them. Most of the world can simply turn on the TV or surf the web and see “us”, but all we know of “them” is what CNN or Al Jazeera show in snippets and sound bites.

Were you outraged when Sinead O’Connor ripped up a picture of the Pope on SNL and called him a murderer? Was that free speech? was it mentioned at mass ther next day (or did you go to 5PM like I did and it wasnt news next week)?

Someone’s ignorance is showing and the biased media is running with the nonsense. The film has been around for a couple of years AND the attacks were planned in anticipation of the new holy day for radical muslims – 9/11. The media and the dopes in the White House are just trying to distract from the truth – again. Someone should interview the head of NASA whose sole job was NOT space exploration – it was trying to make the Muslims love America – many do but look at the Mideast. How is that strategy going? Would love to hear his comments.

When Charles Manson submitted song ideas to the Beach Boys, they turned him down. He was vaery offended by this, further fueling his hatred for society. According to Reality Bites’ logic, we should relaese Charles Manson, and the Beach Boys should apologize for offending him. I guess the blood of his victims is on their hands, right?

Very narrow logic, Shirley. Are you equating Muslims and Mansonites? Manson directly killed people very horribly and should have been given the needle, had it been allowed back then.

Though some of the BB’s music back then sounded like they were sharing the same high (smily smile is STILL weird).

I’m not equating Muslims to Mansonites; I’m equating a handful of cold-blooded murderers to a handful of cold-blooded murderers. A group of violent, bloodthirsty extremists directly killed people in a consulate building and should be given the needle (at the very least). But wait. It’s not their fault. They were offended. I know, let’s go out and buy those sweet little angels a present. The real perpetrators are the makers of the movie. Let’s get ’em!!

Go watch the “movie” on YouTube. It is, without a doubt, the worst movie I’ve ever seen. The production value is so bad it borders on comedy. The dialog doesn’t even make sense, and any references to the prophet were very poorly dubbed over the actual soundstage audio (the actual movie dialog doesn’t reference Mohammad or Islam and the main character’s name is George, not Mohammad).

I am not buying the movie angle at all. I think this is all a form of blow back becuase we try to police the world. I do not know enough about it to specify what exactly triggerred this particular blow back but I am sure it has to do with us funding certain other country’s militaries and stationing our troops all over the globe. I am a firm believe in non interventionism and I think the military should come back and defend our boarders and stop trying to expand into others.
