15 years in prison for beating and killing a 10 year old boy? That’s all for one of the worst crimes you can commit?

This sentence is absolutely disgusting. As Ron White the comedian says, if you kill someone in Texas, we will kill you back. I agree.

Amen, the guy should get the death penalty and the boy’s mother needs to get more than 6 yrs for allowing her boyfriend to be around him. What a shame that respect for life has taken such a down turn. You kill your baby and get out in a couple of years. People will think I’m nuts, but the aborting of 53,000,000 babies in the past 40 yrs. has contributed to this loss of respect for little ones.

“Generally following the law”. ? Is that really good enough when the wellbeing of children is at stake?

Sometimes it’s all you can ask.

Most DCFS caseworkers have a ridiculous caseload. Sometimes 80+ cases.

Then have them try to work them all within a mandated 40 hour work week, and since they’re state employees and generally underfunded–no overtime pay, etc.

The system needs a complete review and overhaul.

Careful, that’s a slippery slope. Would you rather that CPS’ first action be removal? Innocent until proven guilty or assumed guilty? gov’t simply is not the solution for anything/everything.

I don’t know the case-load citations in other comments, but I would expect that when you factor in the complaints that never translate into “case-file”, you would need to multiply by 1000. I’m sure they also get a lot of venomous ex’s or in-laws that report exaggerations out of spite as well.

CPS in California is in woeful need of an overhaul. My personal experience with them was more than frustrating. The department is understaffed and overworked. The social workers lack compassion to a point bordering on apathy. This poor family, so sad. My heart breaks for this father.

More to this story~ And “why did Hudson not have custody & where was Hudson while his son was in danger”?? Tragic situation but hey Mr. Hudson is it really all the County/State’s fault?

      Sean,
Unless you know something else about this story then what is written here, but it says the father was trying to obtain custody and obviously had CPS involved, so he was doing it the legal way to get his son. Chances are the mom wasn’t a bad mom, but when she met the crazy boyfriend, she might have been afraid herself and in dangerous times who knows how one would act, survival mode maybe. Unfortunately she didn’t take the boy out or give him to his father automatically, so she is in jail too, which is good. The boyfriend should be in for life, not 15 years.

Where was the dad in all of this? There’s not enough information here.
