San Diego, Calif.-based Atlas General Insurance Services named Andrew Petersen executive vice president of business development, Brad Perilman as chief financial officer and Taib Alaoui as business development manager for California.
Petersen’s responsibilities include business development for new carriers, new programs, new lines of business and geographic expansion. He is also responsible for identifying strategic acquisition targets, and he has a role in existing program and portfolio management.
Prior to Atlas, Petersen held senior positions at Guy Carpenter and then Collins Associates before it was sold to Guy Carpenter in 2009. Most recently, he was senior vice president of Guy Carpenter in San Francisco, where he was co-head of production. Additionally, Petersen is focused on casualty driven reinsurance placements and has worked in the workers’ compensation and MGA space.
Perilman’s responsibilities include a focus on the development of financial strategies and corporate development. He leads the fiscal team tasked with corporate and financial compliance and serves as a member of the executive management team.
Prior to Atlas, Perilman served as a director at Aon Benfield Securities Inc. in New York, where he was responsible for executing merger and acquisition transactions and private equity capital raisings, primarily involving start-up reinsurance companies. He has also held positions at Marsh and Mercer Consulting Group. Additionally, he has transactional experience in both U.S. and European reinsurance markets.
Alaoui will be responsible for the growth and development of Atlas’ broker relationships throughout California. In addition to identifying mutual beneficiary new broker appointments, he will also focus on maintaining existing broker relationships through the communication of product offerings, carrier appetites and broker production review.
Alaoui comes to Atlas with seven years of experience as a commercial lines broker and sales manager. He also has a year of underwriting experience in the MGA space. Prior to Atlas, Alaoui worked as a commercial broker and sales manager at Heffernan Insurance Brokers. He most recently worked as a construction underwriter at Tangram Insurance Services.
