Montana Bar Sued Over DUI Death

The estate of a Montana woman who died in a drunken driving crash is suing an East Helena bar, alleging bartenders continued to serve alcohol to the already-intoxicated driver in the hours before the crash.

The Independent Record reported the lawsuit was filed on Sept. 20 in Helena by the grandfather of Devon Richetti’s children, who is the representative of her estate.

The lawsuit alleges the VFW Club of East Helena continued to serve 31-year-old Brandy Dullum on Dec. 8, 2011 after employees knew or should have known she was drunk.

After the bar closed, Dullum, Richetti and another woman got in a car and headed toward Helena. Dullum was driving at speeds of up to 100 mph when she lost control of the car and it crashed, killing Richetti and injuring the other woman.
