What a shameful thing to do and no doubt he is a real freaking “idiot”. I hope the Boy Scout’s ax him ASAP, he is a terrible role model for any program. If they felt danger lurked they should have contacted the park ranger to handle this, but I doubt the “high fives” are reflective of a concern person, they are truly the actions of idiots. I hope they have to pay financial and do clean up services at the parks for a long time to come, not to mention that his cased is dismissed, he can’t be in too much pain.!
I can’t tell you how much this bothers me on so many levels. As a eagle scout, nature lover, insurance agent, father and so much more. I don’t know how to put it into words. The total disrepect for nature and lack of character…he is nothing more than a vandal and should be punished. Don’t even get me started on fraud.
I’m a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, and when we took our girls camping, we always left our campsites better than it was when we got there. I’m sure the Boy Scouts have the same practice. These Scout leaders who damaged the landscape by toppling the rock formation should be booted out of scouting, and be made to do community service within the park, or some other park in their area. They need to learn what it means to leave a place better than it was when they got there. They are very poor role models for and young person. Shameful.
Only the future visitors to Utah’s Goblin Valley State Park will be deprived of justice. That was a 170-million-year-old rock formation and it will never be seen again. Disgraceful!

We need to get this guy some money for his family because he can’t possible be smart enough to hold down a job or vote correctly. Lets take all the rich people’s money and give it to this guy so he can have too many kids and make more morons.

The judge handling his disability case should toss it out – no questions asked. Second – he should be made to put the rock back to exactly where it was-without doing any further damage. (I know – not possible). Third – 400 hours of public service in schools telling the kids the consequences of not thinking before you do something, and the consequences of being stupid.

Just read an article in my local paper that the BSA kicked them out. And deservedly so!
It’s rather unfortunate that the rock didn’t roll onto Scoutmasker Taylor.
But then, he’d probably figure out a way to sue the Parks Department for ‘pain and suffering and loss of future joy of life’.

It looks as if justice will be served by the Boy Scouts of America, the Utah Parks Department — and the insurer that he filed a false claim against.
