Arizona DUIs Dropped In 2013

For the first time in a decade, the total number of DUIs in Arizona has dropped.

That’s according to statistics from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, which coordinates a statewide task force targeting drunk drivers.

Officers participating in the task force made more than 29,000 DUI arrests in 2013.

Arizona’s yearly DUI numbers have steadily increased – from nearly 5,300 in 2004 to more than 10,000 in 2007 to almost 20,000 in 2010 and more than 31,000 in 2011.

For the 2013 holiday season which began Nov. 25, authorities made about 3,900 DUI arrests around Arizona. That number was slightly lower than in 2012.
