Another case of a “techie” company wanting to drive the taxi cab drivers out of business, take the company public, cash out – and probably disappear after that! These Lyft and Uber drivers do not have to pay for taxi “certificates”, do not undergo CPR training (which regular cab driver’s do), do not get on-the-job training from supervisors as to the ins and outs of airports and military bases, do not get physicals to ensure they are healthy to drive, do not get drug tested, and do not have to bring in their vehicles weekly for mechanical tests to ensure safety, undergo criminal background checks, etc. I will stick with regular taxi cabs. There isn’t a cab driver in this country who is getting rich.

I think you are missing the point Trish. Uber and Lyft drivers are not getting rich either. They are just trying to support their families like everyone else. Times change. Technology changes things. Encyclopedia companies went out of business because of the internet. Did they sue the internet? Candle makers probably would have wanted to sue Thomas Edison. Things change. If a taxi driver is late, rude or smelly…..you can’t complain! If you do nobody cares. At least with Lyft and Uber it monitors itself. If you think your driver doesn’t meet your standards you can give him a poor rating and then he won’t be driving long if it does not change. All this is……is big government wanting a piece of the pie. That is it.
