“…… Enforcement teams from five state agencies and several county district attorneys, including CDI, the Department of Industrial Relations, Contractors State License Board, Franchise Tax Board, Employment Development Department and the Board of Equalization,…”

If this doesn’t sound like a nightmare for small business, I don’t know what would be: bureaucrats out of control!! “Board of Equalization”??? WTH is that?? Don’t see how anyone can do business in California……

Go Joe! The CDI needs to spend more time at home doing its own housekeeping. Example: a certain insurance company offers “accident forgiveness: but not in California”. After inquiry why the forgivness was not allowed in CA, the insurer stated that the CDI would not allow it. However, the CDI informed me that they have “no control” over this forgiveness rating mechanism ??? So who is not telling the truth? Let’s clean it up folks!

What a racist state! Why didn’t they visit any insurance companies, lawyers offices, hospitals, doctor’s offices? They went after the businesses that hire illegals! Yet the people in California came over to AZ to protest our SB 10 70 bill that just mimicked the Federal law, yet they do the same thing. Nothing like the pot calling the kettle black (or white, yellow, green, orange…).

Why go after businesses that typically follow the law? That would be a waste of taxpayer money. What would have been better is if they went out as an educational resource with amnesty as long as you brought your business into compliance and been on a watch list for follow up. But that doesn’t bring in revenue or make headlines.

Libby: they are NOT following the law. they are operating without contractors’ licenses, they are paying their workers in cash without deductions, they are operating without workers’ comp insurance. And WHY are they doing this? So that they can undercut the LEGITIMATE BUSINESSES in their area.

A business that DOES follow the law cannot compete against the lawbreakers. So the HONEST business that only hires legal residents, pays prevailing wage, deducts for taxes, has insurance and FOLLOWS THE LAW, those businesses go under because they cannot compete with the lawbreakers. THAT is the reason for these sweeps!!!!!!!!
