Parents in Nevada Bullying Suicide Sue District

October 27, 2014

The parents of a seventh-grader who shot herself dead last December are suing the Las Vegas-area school district, alleging that administrators failed to inform them that their daughter was bullied at her middle school.

Jason and Jennifer Lamberth filed a wrongful-death and negligence lawsuit Tuesday in state court seeking unspecified damages from the Clark County School District.

District spokeswoman Kirsten Searer said Thursday the district doesn’t comment on lawsuits, but is reviewing policies, procedures and responsibilities of administrators to report bullying.

The civil lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

It alleges that school officials knew for months that 13-year-old Hailee Joy Lamberth was being victimized by other students, and that by not telling her parents officials deprived the family of an opportunity to intervene or access guidance and counseling.
