as I have said before, there is a town of Oregon City, Oregon. and there is a town named Eugene. the people who write the headlines for Insurance Journal should do a better job.
It doesn’t surprise me, Uber just doesn’t think rules apply to them. When they are challenged they cry that it is the bad, bad taxi cab companies that are just being mean and that the bad, bad insurance industry that are just trying to pick on poor, poor Uber drivers and then the dumb regulators that just can’t get with the times of the new age of an app to call a company. They are the enlightened ones. They are the innovators. (sarcasm intended)
While I agree Uber doesn’t think the rules apply to them and they need to be punished, I think the cab companies aren’t taking the correct approach. Currently, the cab companies are just compalinind Uber isn’t following the rules and whinning in city council meetings in just about every municipality Uber operates in.
Cab Companies should be looking at why consumers like Uber over a traditional cab. As someone who travels a lot, I despise cabs. Often I prefer to rent a car when the price is somewhat comparable. They’re horrific drivers, talk on their phones constantley, want to talk politics or why the crappy sports hometeam is always undervalued, questionable hygeiene, and ALWAYS complain if you don’t have cash. Aren’t you always relieved when the nice, clean Prius cab shows up at the ‘Gournd Transportation’ counter over the 10YR old Crown Vic? My favorite is when they open the trunk and your epxected to put your suitcase and laptop bag in there alongside the dirty exposed spare tire, the cabbies dirty laundry and box of strip club flyers.
Uber’s app is a perfect interaface, and when you’re picked up you feel like its your friend or in-law giving you a ride home from the airport. Some cab companies have tried the app flywheel with little success. Cabbies; Look inward as to why people prefer Uber and fix your own house instead of whinning about what someone else is doing. Using city ordinacnes and legislatures to handcuff uber into submission only perpetuates the problem.

That is your complaint? Made perfect sense to me when you read the article.
