To Sally Ann: Unfortunately, these illegals have probably already been on the road, unlicensed and uninsured. Even with a state inspection program for emissions, New Mexico has a difficult time matching all the drivers with any given vehicle vehicle. Only the registered owner needs to be licensed to get it inspected and approved.
That’s the point, PA. If they’re going to be on the road, let’s at least make sure they have a basic understanding of the rules of the road and operation of a motor vehicle. And if it allows some of their vehicles to finally be insured, that’s all the better. I mean, really. What’s the harm? Only good things can come from this.
So let me get this straight. We are supposed to be upset that someone here illegally can’t take their illegal child for a doctor’s visit that is paid for by those of us here legally or to a school that is also paid for by the rest of us? I think tears are coming to my eyes so I can’t type any longer.
I’m not certain if it’s still being done, but New Mexico was allowing illegals to obtain licenses with only a NM P.O. Box for an address. Guess how many illegals are driving here in Texas with valid New Mexico DL’s…that’s right, a lot!
What’s the big deal about whether they have a license or not? At least they have to pass a test to get licensed. Plus it’s additional revenue for the state. I don’t understand all the outrage. They’re here. They’re not going anywhere. We might as well try to make them as safe as possible while they’re driving around.
Great idea. Let’s put unlicensed, uninsured drivers on the road.
absurd

Better idea. Make it harder and less appealing for illegal aliens to want to move here and instead encourage legal immigration. Wow-how novel!
