Of course these people are independent contractors but of course commifornia will not allow that.

How does California law distinguish between employee and independent contractor status?

Can a Lyft driver turn off the Lyft application and then turn on Uber or some other taxi application?

Driving for Lyft or Uber as an employee wouldn’t be worth it for me. I chose Lyft because I could work part-time in addition to my permanent full-time job. I can turn the app on when I want to drive. When I don’t feel like making extra money, i don’t. I am not locked into any hours. I don’t understand why drivers are complaining. Either drive a traditional taxi or get another type of job.
