SAN DIEGO - Insurance Journal’s new online service, MyNewMarkets.com, is launching a new market focused conference oriented toward helping retail agents and brokers find the coverages they need.
The first conference, named the “MyNewMarkets.com Exchange,” is scheduled for February 15, 2008 in Los Angeles, Calif. Underwriters from up to 35 participating MGAs, wholesalers and carriers will be in attendance for networking, to provide agents information about markets and to accept applications at the event itself.
“This is not a tradeshow,” said Adam Dunford, vice president for new business development of Wells Publishing, publisher of Insurance Journal magazine. “Participating sponsors will staff ‘trading desks’ consisting of a table and chairs and high-speed wireless internet access. I think of this event as more of a ‘market fair’ where agents can meet with a variety of markets in one location to find solutions to their most difficult needs.”
The conference will also feature seven market-focused presentations from industry experts on topics of particular interest in the region where the conference is being held. “We are holding our inaugural Exchange event close to home here in Southern California,” Dunford said, “but we’ve also scheduled events in Texas, Florida and the New York/New Jersey area. Different parts of the country have different market needs. We plan to address those needs with custom tailored regional events.”
Dunford also said the event was open to the entire P&C industry. “Although MyNewMarkets.com is a members-only website, attendance at the Exchange is open to everyone. You don’t have to be a member to attend.”
Attendance is free to agents, while four levels of sponsorship are available to MGAs, wholesalers and carriers. “We are excited about this opportunity to help our readers gain access to more markets,” Dunford said.
