Re: New Insurance Agency

Read those contracts very carefully - how much will it cost you to leave. What do they bring to the table and most of all contact at least 5 of their current agents and get their thoughts.
Usually Big I or PIA has a market with the carriers you are looking for. You have to be a member first.

Re: What Would Your Veteran Self, Tell Your Newbie Self...

Great advice. Do not ever get stuck in a captive situation. They "Own" you. Get as many companies as you can and weed out the ones that can't hack it in your area. Don't get to big with any of them or they "Own" you. Better to have 6 companies with $ 500K than one with 3 Million....

Re: Travelers reducing commissions

The thing that always gets me is "who" at the company took an 8% cut in pay? Seems like the government - only the guys at the bottom deserve the cuts. Like to know if the President or any other officers took a cut in pay like that. Many other companies will follow on that same line if the ...

Re: Erie Insurance, feedback please.

We have had 3 agents try them in our area. All gone - sold to other agencies who dumped them. Know of a very large agent in Ohio that called them into his office and told them to take their books and leave. He did not like the way he was being treated. Rolled it all to other companies. If you do dec...

Re: Do you recommend bonds or crime insurance?

"willingness to prosecute" That is what keeps most collections / repayment from taking place. Usually a back ground check works after the event. If your office has an open cash drawer (everyone uses the same cash drawer) policy how do you prove theft (who did it?). One office had 2 working...

Re: Do you purchase Damage Waiver when renting a car?

Absolutely - Your credit card can be charged for the total cost of repair PLUS the cost of lost rental. The insurance will cover some of this but will may not cover any interest charges that could occur if the repair could not be made in a timely manner  .

Re: Encompass VS. Kemper

In this day in age you would be better to take them both and see how the dust settles down the road. More is better every time in this market. 8) Look at all these package deals being offered - SIAA, Iroquois Buckeye, Ins. Noodle, esurance, etc. If you don't have them all your not in the market or w...

<_< I agree with several others. If we are not Progressive agents and are going to be DRIVE agents I do not want anything in or around our office that has progressive on it. They are getting the advertising and I get nothing by doing it.
If it is to be DRIVE then that is all it will be.

B) You know you should look at a demo of every system you can. Have a friend that tried Applied and AMS then dumped them both for Doris (Just for the Diary system in it). They offer both in house and on line system. If you are going to be a paperless office (if possible) then company downloads, scan...
