Re: Coverage for Knights of Columbus Hall
As the building is owned by a for-profit. A policy is needed as a lessors risk. I am assuming that the Knights operations are as a non-profit. A separate policy is needed for the activities of the non-profit. The non-profit as well as any other groups who rent the hall will need to name the for-prof...

Re: Special Construction (Mokelumne Hill, CA - Calaveras Cou
There is a lot of wisdom in what d's insurance store said. Even if you find a market, there is much potential downfall and more work in keeping the risk insured. This is one of those times just to say Sorry, I have no market.

Re: Commercial building with sprinklers
Sprinkler discount of 15% to 40% is a good guess. There are so many variable factors. ISO will manually rate every Sprinklered building; Some of the factors: wet or dry, water pressure if wet, Building partially sprinklered or full, construction ,occupancy, physical condition, types of fire protecti...

Re: Will we ever see a GL residual market?
Well WC and Auto have state regulations requiring insurance. Individuals are more protected in our society than our business owners. The business owners are too diverse in their operations to require insurance companies to mandate coverage. The surplus lines markets do an adequate job in providing c...

Hey: Enough speculation, it has been almost two months now, Beau needs to give us an update on what he has done to resolve his incident.

Re: Social Media and its potential
Social Media is what the millennials use. They do not have landlines or know what a phonebook is. Social media is what agents have to use especially for future growth. However, opening up the use of posting information could lead to big E&O problems. As with any communication, one has to be care...

Re: Rental Car claim
Liability polices exclude property in your care custody and control. Your client would need auto comprehensive and collison coverage on his vehicle policy to cover damage to non-owned vehicles. He would also need permission from the owner of the non-owned vehicle for coverage to apply which he does ...

Re: Becoming an underwriter
What you lack right now is experience. I would talk with your current employer about expanding your role. Every brokerage firm would benefit if you had an agent's license. It would allow you to further progress in obtaining basic knowledge. Then I would pursue the CPCU. I would venture to guess that...

Well Golden, you are correct. Those are the same people who will respond to Progressive's ad "How much do you want to pay". They will in many cases be woefully under insured. It is most likely that these internet shoppers will buy inadequate coverage as there will be little or no expert ad...

Re: Is Google going to run the independent agent out of busi
Via 01001 said it best. After being in the business for 30 years, I have migrated to writing tough commercial lines and group health. By pointing out serious coverage gaps in commercial polices, I have been able to round out by adding personal lines to these commercial accounts. Its the relationship...

You should post more information like payrolls per class; new venture? etc. You need to provide more basic info for this tuff class. If this is a small premium size risk. State Fund will be your only choice.

Re: AI status and 30 day notice of cancel endorsment
What i find disturbing is that I would venture that most subcontractors are small and cannot get the coverages in the policies that are required by the contracts they assume. I always cringe at the wording in the contracts that require the subcontractors to be responsible for ANY claim. As we all kn...

Re: Minimum and Deposit Premium GL
In my experience most Surplus Lines Policies are written with minimum deposit premiums. When this occurs, the policy contains the endorsement that clearly indicates this fact. As the endorsement is not part of the "boilerplate", the endorsement should be easy to find. The insured also has ...

Re: The next five years
Gee, the last time I looked at CA Dept of Ins regulations, clients must receive a hard copy of their policies and endorsements. If this regulation has changed, it will save me a lot of money for those client policies sent to me by e-mail from companies.
