Re: Newbie, Should I Start a Farmers or Independent ?

Hello Insurance Guy, believe can give you some tips. Full disclosure 12 years as independent, 15 working for large insurer, 7 years RM. Working as independent was the best move I made in the insurance industry. Think that the deciding factor you have is if you like to work in structure or work witho...

Re: Marketing and Contact Management

Yes I use the same system for all accounts, which has capability of making notes, accounting, etc. Full disclosure though I also keep folders on all accounts that are active which would include emails from customers, underwriting, etc.

Re: Marketing and Contact Management

My agency uses Allied/Doris software. It has the ability to add named insureds in client, prospect, or all, buckets. And is easy to move a risk from one to another, example when a company goes out of business, etc.

Re: Coverage for Knights of Columbus Hall

George I would confirm with underwriter, however I see it GL code 44227 which is for halls. 41668 appears to
be more aligned with a club, however this club is using facility as a hall. I am in TX and would take it to surplus.

Re: Painter with job above 3 stories

I am in TX, and have had the same issue with iron & steel erectors. They will go over two stories and when they do that exposure applies which is expensive. I have written these through Surplus, if they grow and get to be a more middle market size then Travelers and other admit will entertain. D...

Re: WC Market MLR Risk bad Losses

Currently it is being marketed through SIAA chapter, HIIG declined, and through one MGA I use US Risk. Have othe...

Re: Client wnders why his HO premium went up

I don't know what size agency you are but this is a big problem for small agencies like mine. Most of my clients are commercial, and I get referral's sometimes from them for this type of individual. Basically because it is a problem friend/client of theirs and they need to give them direction. So it...

Re: Certs - when will agents all get on the same page

GC's holding back monthly draws because of wording on a COI is a old standby. This gives them more float. Puts the agent in a very precarious situation as the client is not getting paid their monthly payment due to your COI. Again your client should look into joining the local chapter of the ASA. At...

Re: OCIP and credits given

This must be a small job I would be curious to how much the contract price is, or is it a contract? Reason I ask is the insurance requirements in the bid packet should have indicated a OCIP. However this is a slippery slope not knowing the relationship with the GC and the client.

Re: OCIP and credits given

Worked for a very large Electrical Sub for years with one hat being RM duties. The best source Subs have is an organization called the ASA or American Subcontractors Association. They have monthly meetings and main premise is 1. Pay when Paid 2. Change Orders 3. Indemnification. They will have a lob...
