Wow. I think you're the first person to say this out loud. After 4 years in an agency, I'm just now starting to think I might be comfortable handling things if something were to happen to the principal agent. I can't imagine starting from scratch in this business as an agent. It seems like a horribl...

I'm in IL, and we have a magazine called "Insurance Insight" which is published by our state association. I started reading it when I was a newbie, and every issue is as valuable as a brick of gold.

It sounds like they screwed themselves, if they signed the lifetime exclusion. Although, even if they couldn't be canceled, they no doubt could have been rated way up or something for not having signed the lifetime exclusion.

We're starting to see underwriting ease up beyond common sense here in IL too. I think this is the beginning of the cycle... Once claims start coming in, rates will start escalating again.

I agree with Porter. I also sell AAA insurance as an independent, and compete against the local exclusive office. I really don't think you want to be on the exclusive agency side of things.

Everybody I know says that CIC is a great place to see a policy pulled apart and placed back together. It strikes me as a great place also for people who do not have the discipline to sit down and read a book regularly. I don't think you will find many people that regularly enjoy reading books abou...

You have to wonder about the ethical position of agents and insurers that specifically want to sell insurance to people who BROKE THE LAW to get in this country. So you refuse to sell auto liability insurance to an illegal... And they crash into someone down the street from your office... The victi...

Auto insurance is easy...illegals do not have licenses (at least here in CA)...but property, liability and the rest are not. We have companies that will write someone with a Mexican license. Its no more difficult than writing someone US licensed. Actually its easier for me in IL to write someone wi...

But if they're trying to do things right by purchasing insurance, who are you to act as the police? I'm sure I've sold auto insurance to a few illegals, better they wreck with insurance than without, right?
