Re: Peer-to-Peer Website & Self-Insuring Users

My feeling is that if you are assuming the risk yourself and making a charge for that and calling it an "insurance" charge you will need to be licensed with the State Department of insurance (Probably as an insurance company, and that is a bar that is too high for a small startup) The othe...

Re: Non-profit with incidental international exposure

Rob Chartis has a World Risk Foreign package that allows you to pick and choose the coverages you need at very reasonable prices. Haven't placed one for a non-profit, but it has filled the need for for profit companies with work profiles close to what you have described. Give me a call or drop me an...

Re: (CA) Looking For Market For Long Term Tree Farm

You might try Googling "standing timber insurance." I don't know where you are located, but there is an active market for this coverage.

Re: Claims Made, Claims Made & Reported, and Occurrence

Worth noting that in an occurrence policy, the damage or injury must occur during the policy period. It does not matter when the claim is made. For instance an occurrence that injured a 1 year old child might not trigger a claim until the child attains majority 17 years later. The 18 year old occurr...

Re: Federal Excise Taxes?

FET used to be common, but then most major Alien insurers who wrote business in the US concluded an agreement with the IRS whereby they pad taxes to the IRS based upon their writings. Not all Alien carriers were a party to that treaty, but it is rare to see FET's now. You can get moe information if ...

Some more thoughts on OCIPs It would not be unusual for supervisory or QC people for the General on the OCIP to visit the off site shop of a sub to make sure that the work is on time and to spec. Some subs that come to mind are HVAC making duct work off site, cabinet shops, custom countertops etc. I...

Not all OCIP exclusions are created equal. If you can get the CG 21 54 A 01 96, there is no exclusion of off-site work. I have seen others that exclude work "covered by" an OCIP. My opinion is that this would also provide off site coverage to the insured if it is not provided by the OCIP p...

ACORD Forms

Never feel shamed if you have to ask questions. I have been doing this for 30 years and I'm still learning, which is one of the things I love about this job. I've learned from books, couses, underwriters, brokers and insureds, and almost everyone is willing to share their knowledge. Just try not to ...

Does not appear that your employee is a "prohibited person" since the felony doesn't involve a crime of dishonesty, breach of trust or vilation of the act itself. Most state ins. depts. have more info on their web sites see for instance <a href='http://www.insurance.ca.gov/LIC/LBB/FAQAnswe...
