The life isn't that tough of an exam, but it also depends on your state.

In FL, life, health, and annuities are combined, now it isn't that tough, but there is a lot of information that is covered.

You will have to really review your UA contract. Most likely if you are captive and using their resources (office space, leads, support, etc..) you will not be able to push a competitive product.

Try newspaper ads, giveaways, maybe even a radio ad. Also try putting up stick signs in front of your business, also balloons will draw peoples attention. Your main goal is most like trying to get them notice you are there. They won't come instantly but when they need your service they will hopefull...
