Re: CPCU classes vs. CLU classes
I would like the e-books to compliment the print texts. I too feel very attached to some of my textbooks and wouldn't dream of giving them up. They are good reference materials. Maybe if you order the print text you can get a digital copy too. Kind of like what they do with DVDs now, where you can b...

Re: CPCU classes vs. CLU classes
Hi skryan,
I too would like to see The Institutes offer audio for the books. Or possibly e-books are the future for those that have iPads, Kindles and the like?

Re: CPCU classes vs. CLU classes
Which CPCU class are you taking? The book size will vary by class. Personally, I'm taking CPCU 500 and the textbook is a good size. As for the CPCU exams, there are a few that are still essay exams. I know that CPCU 500 used to be CPCU 510 which was essay. When they split the ethics requirement from...

Re: CPCU 530 Multiple Choice
I haven't taken 530 yet, but will have to eventually. I started off with 553 and missed it by one point. I read the textbook cover to cover, used the study aids and took practice exams. Boy did I learn a lot. Everyone recommends this Burnham System, but the cost is astronomical. As someone who has t...

Re: FORMS AND ENDORSEMENTS QUESTION
I'm not sure that it is an ISO form since the form number is not CG NN NN. Does that make sense? It is possible that is company specific and in that case you would need to ask the company issuing the policy about the form.

Hi Manish,
The CPCU 510 exam is a short answer format, it is not multiple choice. Also, it is consider an intermediate level of difficulty. I hope this helps.

Re: CPCU vs. ARM
The best way to determine if there are waivers available is to go directly to the AICPCU website at http://www.aicpcu.org. However in pulling up the chart unless you matriculated into the CPCU program by June of 1992 and completed the program by December 15, 2002, the ARM no longer is available as a...

Re: CPCU vs. ARM
A pass is usually a score of 70% or better. As for studying, you will be the best one to determine how much time you need to prepare for the exam. I recently read an article that said one of the best ways to begin is to go over practice tests or quizzes to see where you could use more time and then ...

Re: CPCU vs. ARM
I am in a postion where both the CPCU and ARM would be of great value to me. I currently have my ACSR & CISR. I also have the CPIW designation that is awarded by NAIW for completion of a professional designation, an NAIW program, a three year membership to the organization and industry employmen...

Re: Personal Time Off (PTO) vs Vacation & Sick Time
The only other thing I thought of was that when I worked somewhere that went from different vacation time from sick time to PTO, they used some calculation to figure out how many days to give everyone. So of course they did research and polled employees and when the final counts were made they deter...

Re: Personal Time Off (PTO) vs Vacation & Sick Time
From an employee standpoint I prefer my vacation time be seperate from my sick time. I have worked under both programs and find PTO is not great. People tend to come into the office sick and contangious to save the PTO time for vacations. I also don't like the idea of PTO because if you are only out...

Re: CIC Designation
I finished my CISR at the beginning of this year and that allowed me to complete my ACSR that I started a while back. If you look at the National Alliance Website you can use some of your ACSR credits I believe to count towards CISR classes. It would be another designation to have. I too want to be...

Your renewal information should come to you and then you just are responsible for paying it. I moved from a job where I was licensed in every state and maintained them for awhile before the cost was just a burden. But like others have said check with the state DOI to be sure. I think as long as you ...

Shopping Every Year
Speaking from a company perspective, our company is able to track the submissions from year to year. We can tell a lot of the time how frequently the consumer is shopping by how many different companies we get loss runs from. Plus "shopping" every year puts the company at a huge disadvanta...
