Re: ACA/ObamaCare Open Enrollment 2015

Follow up: For the 2016 enrollment, I signed up to sell health insurance with an agency. I sold a couple of policies but the agency has not paid my commission. The policy was active 5 months ago on March 1st. My agency is out-of-state, in Florida. All I've gotten is the email run-around. Is it unusu...

Re: Going Independent without going the Captive Route

Should we expect the fate ( money up in smoke) to be the same if we get started as an insurance franchisee? My understanding is that a new agent can be trained and assigned if we are part of an insurance franchise. There are several companies doing this now.

Thanks.

Re: Insured to replacment cost or use extended endorsment

Thanks guys. This is truly a teaching forum. I've decided to add a P&C license after tax season, but I'm going to try to partner with an experienced agency. Then I will be ready. I respect the expertise of others. Best way to learn. I will just add that change has come and is continuing. These f...

Re: Insured to replacment cost or use extended endorsment

Thanks. I do understand the difference between replacement cost and market value. I'm just looking at it from a homeowners viewpoint. In a market where there are many choices to 'get another house' at market value, it may not make much sense to rebuild it. That's where our market was for a good stre...

Re: Insured to replacment cost or use extended endorsment

Here's a thought. I am not a P&C agent but I'm considering. For a few years (because of the down economy) we had replacement coverage at a value about $100,000 more than it would cost to replace our house. I think our premium was about $75.00 to $100.00 more per month than it should have been. O...

Re: Why am I still an Agent?

Beyert, do you expect to cover your costs after the insurance companies pay you for the health policies you've written? Thanks for your input. I'm sure no one is thinking about how long it could take to get paid. This is very good information because any employees would have to be paid if other arra...

Re: Why am I still an Agent?

Thanks! We have 3 active offices totalling approx. 25 part time employees and 1400 clients mostly individual returns and some business returns. I hear you when you say don't expect part time involvement. We're open 3 days a week after April. That would be the main issue since I see that insurance me...

Re: Why am I still an Agent?

This is an interesting post because I have an unused P&C license but I'm thinking about adding insurance to my existing business. In my area it looks like State Farm offices have stopped opening but Allstate has opened many new offices. I think these are new 'franchises' that have'nt found out i...
