Re: Insurance for DJ's

Well, sure, he does need Liability coverage. What if his equipment that he set up falls and damages a 3rd party's property, or, worse yet, it falls on and injurs a 3rd party? He certainly would need to be protected in those cases.
And yes, it is a small exposure and the rates will reflect that.

Re: Co-signer for Auto Loan

I had thought of both of these answers, but just wanted to see what others thought. The key here is whether or not the co-signer is actually on title. In most cases, they are, and then the need for AI coverage is there. I still think it to be good practice to add the co-signer as an AI to the policy...

Co-signer for Auto Loan

My insured just co-signed for his 24 year old daughter's auto loan. He does not want to be on her policy as an insured or a driver. Does he not have an exposure as a registered owner if the daughter has an at fault accident and therefore should be covered on the daughter's policy? He feels that his ...

Re: Privacy Law situation

"They will not rate the son but will underwrite him." Interesting. If dad's carrier issues an endorsement excluding the son from coverage under the dad's policy, I really do not see what the issue is. The carrier has no exposure for the son driving his car or the son driving the dad's car,...

To Smart Guy. You may want to change your handle. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Ca Broker Fee

To CSP. You are funny! If you receive no commission and charge a 15% BF, or whether you earn 15% commission with no BF, our quoted premium is the same. Not sure how that is greedy, but if you say it is, then it must be true!
PS. I still think that you are funny!

Re: Ca Broker Fee

It does not seem that anyone is willing or able to give a bit of guidence regarding your original question "what is fair?" We normally add whatever BF is needed to get our total compensation (commission and BF) to 15%. For instance, if I have a $1,000 premium, getting 10% commission, I wou...

Re: House that is titled in the person's LLC

In my experience with high end clients that have homes in LLCs, no Insurance Company that I spoke to will allow an HO policy with the LLC as the named insured. You must add the LLC to the policy as an Loss Payee and Additional Insured. That is the same if the home is titled to a Corp, LLC, Trust or ...

Internet Seach Company

We have a very nice website but get very little traffic as we do not come up anywhere near the top when we search Google for insurance in our area. I know that there are numerous companies out there that for a price will work to have our website appear first in any Google searchs. However, I do not ...

Re: I may terminate my agreement w/ NIA!

I, too, have been thinking about terminating NIA. I am meeting with the Rep on Thursday to discuss the provisions if I leave. I have been told that they will cut commissions in half on the book that runs out with them. Not sure if the savings from not paying monthly dues will offset the reduction in...

Re: CPCU vs. ARM

I have both and have found that I use more of what I learned from the ARM than the CPCU. I started with the CPCU, passed a few sections, then went to the ARM. Finished that relativley quickly, then went back to the CPCU. Risk Management is very helpful not only in my professional life, but also in m...

Re: Mercury broker appointment

To "D's Insurance Store. I have had Allied for some time and I have found that they are anything but liberal with regards to brush. They go beyond the Risk Meter (or any brush mapping service) and actually decline risks that are outside of their distance to brush. They are VERY strict with brus...

Re: Networked Insurance Agents compared to others..

Oh, yeah! NIA takes a cut of the commissions, and it is not small. That, on top of their $225 monthly fee, it is not the best deal around. Try Agent Secure.

Re: Networked Insurance Agents compared to others..

Not sure what state you are in, but in CA I can think of Superior Access, Insurance Noodle, ATM for BOPs etc. Ladybroker made a good point that many do not charge a monthly access fee, rather a "Broker Fee" on every quote.

Re: Networked Insurance Agents compared to others..

Have been with NIA for 10 years. As they get larger, the "personal touch" that was so nice has gone by the wayside. I send quote requests to them and other GA's and always get quotes back from others and the NIA quote usually after the eff. date. And as far as service, don't get me started...
