Re: GL classification description / Landscaping
I just noticed you are asking for GL classification. Scopes is for Work Comp, but the corresponding GL code should apply.

Re: GL classification description / Landscaping
Per Scopes, you need to use 5183 Plumbing. Code 5188 for Automatic Sprinkler Installation states “Lawn sprinkler installation to be separately rated as Code 5183”

Re: Drive other car
I highly recommend you remove the duplicate DOC coverage. Having it on two policies can create "Other Insurance" issues. You don't want two insurance companies battling over who is primary. Plus there is no need to charge your client twice for the coverage.

Re: Products & Completed Operations
I did receive and reply to your private post. I won't copy here since you indicated you didn't want details in the open thread. Please note that "Prior Acts" has nothing to do with GL coverage, even on a claims made policy. I would love to see a copy of the policy in question and claim det...

Re: Products & Completed Operations
I don't know who disagreed with you, but they are wrong. And if a claim was denied it had nothing to do with the date of loss during an occurrence policy term. Regarding a move to claims made, any occurrence policies written in the past no longer have any exposure unless a claim pops up that OCCURRE...

Re: Products & Completed Operations
This is simpler than it seems. If the GL policy is on an Occurrence form than the date of loss (ie. the date of bodily injury or property damage) determines which carrier pays the claim. It doesn't matter when a product was manufactured or a house built, the date of loss is the trigger.

Re: Apartment complex wants to be additional interest
I've never worked in personal lines, but we add Landlords as Additional Insured to commercial policies all the time: General Liability ISO form CG2011. If a loss arises out of the tenant's use of the premises, the landlord is protected if named in a lawsuit. Why can't this be done on an HO4?

Re: Certificate Poll
Probably the people that are issuing certificates that are not supported by the policy terms, don't know what they are doing so wouldn't answer Yes to your poll. We recently took over a large manufacturing account from a big broker by AOR. Quite a few of their vehicles are personally owned by execut...

Re: Certificate Poll
Why would a professional agent ever issue a certificate that was not supported by the policy terms? Regarding additional insureds, most of my client's policies have blanket additional insureds when required by contract, so we can add all the names requested (including their mother) and state they ar...

Need Stop Gap Employers Liability for ND & WY
I have a Michigan contractor working in ND and WY. He purchased WC from each monopolistic state which does not include employers liability. His GL and WC carrier is not filed for either State, so can't add Stop Gap to his policies. I've asked a couple of WC carriers for a monoline policy to cover th...

This sounds like a great idea, but there is no way you will get approval to use copyrighted materials from Acord. This will have to come directly from Acord.

Re: CPCU vs. ARM
Just a few thoughts: I earned the CIC designation in 1980 (29 years ago- I was 6 years old at the time!) and the ARM in 1996. I also took a number of CPCU courses, but was very disappointed in both the material and caliber of instructors. I decided to not continue with the CPCU program. I have found...

Re: Ethics Case #8 - The Plotting Producer
This seems pretty clear cut to me, regardless of any contract or non-compete. As sales manager, your duty is to your employer. You must advise your boss what you have learned. Your duty is NOT to your wife's friend. Also, if the employee's wife was that free with the information, this will get out a...

Rather than a Builder's Risk policy, we issue an Installation Floater that covers materials and supplies at the job site, at a temporaty storage location or in transit. This is a blanket policy for any job. It includes coverage for property of the insured and property of others while in the care, cu...
