Re: "I don't want to tell you my current premiums"
Some great replies here - thank you all for sharing. Special thanks to those willing to speak up and share the opposing view. I come down somewhere between 'if it's a simple risk - rate it up and send it out' and 'if it's a more complex package with specialized coverage included [D&O, abuse, etc...

Re: "I don't want to tell you my current premiums"
THAT reply is why I came to the forum with this. Thank you for your response! The issue comes up several times each and every year. I have played it both ways and I am evolving to the point of NOT wanting to waste ANYONE's time. Not mine, not my underwriter's, and not a prospect's. Thanks again D's ...

Re: Need BOP/Package for Property in Ca
If it won't fit standard carriers because of any of the building characteristics maybe E&S. I have a similar risk with Penn I placed through RIC Insurance General Agency.

"I don't want to tell you my current premiums"
I am curious how you all deal with this. Whether it's the area marketing rep or the UW at the carrier they ask "what is expiring" or "what is target" premium? For new clients where there is no real "relationship" yet and therefore no real trust it is common to hear &quo...

Re: Performance Bond - international exposure
Thanks for the szinecker I will follow up if need be. Right now we are checking with the insured's bank. It appears the contract calls for an irrevocable letter of credit in lieu of a bond - so I'm gonna see how that shakes out.

Performance Bond - international exposure
A client needs a performance bond in order to meet contract requirements. Obligee is govt entity in UAB. Travelers, CNA, Liberty, and PHLY all declined based on international exposure.

Long Haul Trucking - independent owner/operator
Looking for access to markets who deal with independent owner/operators with 1 power unit. Need package - auto, GL, cargo, towing, reefer breakdown. Does anyone have a recommendation for a MGA or carrier which is competitive with these small business owners?

Re: workcomp ca metal mfg 3066 code
It's worth trying AmTrust. I just placed a metalworks account (3040) with them and it may well be similar enough for them to write. I accessed AmTrust through Builders & Tradesmen (BTIS) - they are pretty easy to work with and will likely give you an answer quickly.

Re: ADA Violations
This did not come up as a claim. It came up when a client called and asked about coverage. He leases his office space in a building with no wheelchair ramp. The lease was up and he was trying to determine whether to sign another agreement - and was wondering how it would play out if he was sued. Cou...

ADA Violations
Anyone have any experience trying to get a carrier to defend claims made alleging violations of ADA? What have you seen? How did it unfold?

Re: Travelers Insurance in CA
With TRV we can do home or auto alone in CA - but we can't do tenant occupied dp3 unless they have personal residence insured with TRV. I suppose that could change at any time...

Re: Specialty Contractor
No they are not being non renewed. It had occurred to me that they are currently where need to be - but I figured a post here couldn't hurt. I had approached Travelers and they initially were interested but then passed because they only work with contractors with 750K payroll. CNA, Hartford, and Lib...

Philadelphia might be an option for GL and I would check and see if Chartis is an option for the comp.
