Re: Farmers - Loss Runs - Fax NumbeR?
I don't know what state your agency is located, California, "REQUIRES BY CODE" loss runs be sent to an insured within 10 days of the request by the insured. If your insured did not obtain them within 10 days, have him file a formal complaint with the Dept of Insurance against the agent/com...

Appointment
We looked into Allied. When it got down to signing up....They wanted us to 'roll' a $350,000 book the first year. New business didn't count. They didn't care if we put on $1,000,000 premium the first year in new business, it was the 'book roll' they wanted. Every account that came up for renewal the...

Re: Ethical Problem - Please help!
Somewhere in the program is a transaction file. Find the approximate date the file was deleted, it will be shown in the transaction file. To my knowledge the transaction file is next to impossible to alter, except for a programmer, who would need to get into the code to delete a part of the transact...

Re: Diminishing Role of the Agent for P&C Insurance
People who use direct writers don't need insurance agents, until they mess things up and want help. Inadequate coverage, no coverage, wrong coverage, you name it, they know more than an insurance agent, they don't need or want your help until its too late.

Re: CA Broker Fee
We don't charge a broker fee, except when the wholesaler does not pay us a commission. Charge a broker fee and we will under bid you with the same company every time by 10% to 15% if you are charging a broker fee if that is what you are charging (as noted above). If you are charging a broker fee in ...

Re: DF quote for SM Carrier needed!
My carriers in California require quick release mechanisms inside each room without an exit to the exterior of the building. Photo's by the agent required. No exit, no quick release, no insurance. Or they can remove the bars.

Exclude a driver
Find an independent agent that will shop the market for you, and find a company that will allow you to exclude a driver in the household from the policy. JUST MAKE REAL SURE THAT PERSON "NEVER" GETS BEHIND THE WHEEL OF YOUR CAR FOR ANY REASON!!!!!!!

Re: Castle Inspections / High value inspections in general
We use 4 companies that use MSB for homevalues. I can input the same numbers in each company MSB software and get different valuations. Sometimes there will be a difference of 25% to 30% in valuation. Double check to input on the inspector form to assure accuracy. On high value homes the interior fe...

WC Classification Codes
State Fund in California follows the Workers Comp. Rating Board guidelines on job classification. You can go on-line and check the descriptions and even call the WC Rating Board and discuss the classes with them. They have even given the correct codes for the businesses that were disputed. Go on-lin...

Apps request Bankruptcy info
All of my companies request information concerning bankruptcy, and foreclosure/preforeclosure. This is public record information, as is repo's of homes and rental property. Both can be obtained without doing a credit report. Both are reason for many companies declining coverage.

Re: House rules for calling dibs on an account. HELP!
In the agency where I work, if you quoted it last year, its your quote this year. If I'm not around when the risk asks for another quote and someone else submits the application, it is still my account. It's called helping each other earn a living. I help them when they are on vacation, etc. in apps...

Re: Theft of Intellectual Property
For the agency owners out there, there exists considerable case law against employees stealing client lists, phone numbers, policy numbers, expriratation dates, etc. Check out the California Uniform Trade Secrets Act - California Civil Code 3426.1 - 3426.10. Section 2860 of California Labor Code pro...

Theft of Intellectual Property
Taking names, addresses, phone numbers, policy numbers, expiration dates, etc. when you leave an agency is intellectual property theft. That information belongs to the owner of the agency, not the producer or CSR. If you remove this information by any means, ie, rolodex, client lists, birthday lists...
