Re: Astonishing results: Agency online marketing
Internet Marketing works in some cases with Personal Lines, but not very effective with Commercial or Group Health accounts.

Re: getting started
Hi Frustrated, I think every agent has been there at one time or another. I doubt there is a single answer out there for everyone, but I might be able to help. My company specializes in helping agents like you get in front of interested prospects. We do this for both Commercial Lines and for Groupe ...

Re: Purchasing X-Date Data
I know of a firm that will either contract for xdate lists or scheduled appts for commercial p&c or life/health Tricia, have you worked with London Marketing? Are you working with them now? I would happily go up against them any day and I can provide references of my own and I can provide you w...

Re: Purchasing X-Date Data
What lines are you looking for? In most states, workers comp x-dates are public information. There are x-date companies that compile this information and package it to sell to agencies. There are two problems with these x-dates. #1, the information is not regularly updated so you tend to get a lot o...

Re: What is Your Best Source of Advertising?
If you are looking for business to business CL or Group Health, give me a call. Internet leads for business to busienss are not usually effective. Most internet lead companies sell the same lead to 3-10 agents so basically if you aren't the first one to call you have already lost. Also, the types of...

Re: Independents...What's Your Best Form of Paid Advertisement?
If you are looking to do some commercial advertising, have you thought about appointment setting? Radio, TV, Yellow Pages, billboards and mailers tend to have very low returns and those that do contact you are not always your ideal prospects. With an appoinment setting service, you can specifically ...

Re: What is the value of qualified set Commercial Appointments
I will make this my last post, and I apologize for this turning into an advertising post as it was meant only for educational purposes originally, and advertising is what we pay IJ for. There are many valid points on all sides. Yes, companies have gone out of business, some companies continue to ope...

Re: What is the value of qualified set Commercial Appointments
Shagster, I agree. I have a client who must be dumb. He just e-mailed us yesterday that he closed a $279,000 account from one of our appointments that cost him $60. So far his investment with us is just a couple thousand and his return about 20 times that. I guess if he were a little smarter he woul...

Re: What is the value of qualified set Commercial Appointments
Cold calling wastes your time and sours your reputation with prospects. Paying someone to phone-spam for you is even dumber. Do you like to be interrupted by a telemarketer? Do you choose doctors, lawyers, accountants, architects, or any other professional based on a cold call? Would you even consi...

Re: What is the value of qualified set Commercial Appointments
Ok, I will address this as well. If there are any further questions please call or e-mail me direct, as I don't want to hog up this post. Basically in my experience and in my opinion everything this firm is telling you is the wrong way to do things. I will explain why. And keep in mind that without ...

Re: What is the value of qualified set Commercial Appointments
Hi Insurance Guy, Give me a call tomorrow or provide me with a number as I can address your concerns better in "real time" as opposed to e-mail so I can go into more detail with you. In the meantime, see below. In my opinion, much of what they are telling you is what I would consider "...

Re: What is the value of qualified set Commercial Appointments
My experience with professional lead/appointment generating vendors has been uniformly bad. All the other agency owners I have talked to report similar results. The close rate is poor. I and others I have talked to have had better luck with hiring an inhouse telemarketer. I pay mine $100 an appt. I...
