Re: FSC Pipeline anyone?
Am using it now: chose because it was insurance-specific, good value, and relatively simply (not trying to duplicate functions already offered by our AMS). Great support too.

Re: Commercial Producer Compensation
Attend a Dynamics of Sales Management seminar: this is covered in detail and various scenarios ran through so you can adapt to your own operation's characteristics. Just went in January and this was probably the most valuable class I've done in a decade.

Re: Independent Agent Sub Producer Commission Structure
Here's a good formula to help each agency owner answer this question for their own shop. I heard this from a John Jacques seminar some time back, but it's still a great tool for answering this question: Keep in mind your targeted profit: most of us would agree that we want a 20% profit margin, pre-t...

job description for compliance officer / risk manager?
Does anyone have any sample or suggested wording for a job description for a Corporate Compliance Officer for a multi-location health clinic? They're well over 100 employees, but not large enough to have a dedicated Chief Risk Officer, so they're looking to include responsibilities of Risk Managemen...

Re: Referral Fees
Instead of paying them with referral fees, why not refer your benefits business to them and make your "payment" an exchange of referrals? Usually creates more synergy.

She can probably get the CGL from any surplus lines market.
The "blessing gone wrong" factor would be addressed by a proper ISO Blessing Errors & Omissions form.
Good luck on that part!

Re: My Email Inbox
A business owner's our own worst enemy is inertia. So if one of these "consultants" or "special offers" gets an owner off his/her duff & causes activity to be generated, then even if it's not the best effort right out of the gate, as long as it doesn't brake the bank, isn't t...

Re: Workers Comp Deposit
Several carriers are offering their own financing options in addition to their regular direct bill program. A popular one is 1st Comp/Southern Insurance, where the financed down pay is sometimes less than the direct bill down pay. There are others as well.
Re: Stop It!
One thing about it: you now have enough time invested that you should have a thorough knowledge of this prospects hot buttons. Unless you have a reason to keep going, it's time to let this guy see that he's facing some ultimatums, not from you, but from reality. Present him w/some forks in the road ...

Re: Attorney considering CPCU- thoughts?
You might be able to take that experience and use it to gain a position at a growing small firm that has until now only retained general counsel, but is interested in developing this into staff counsel. Firms with 50-100 FT EEs are often at the point where they're looking for ways to get more out of...

Re: CGL Coverage for backcharge?
Absent evidence of fault, this is a payment issue instead of an insurance issue. But what was the damage to? Did the insured's sub damage it's own work or the insured's? Depending on the answer you might be able to file a claim under CGL for the damages caused by the sub because ISO CGL doesn't excl...

Re: Newbie Question about Pay
Another factor to consider is what types of policies will you be targeting? Shops targeting personal lines & small BOPs may offer a higher split of the commission because these policies are cheaper for the agency to service, but the commission dollars may not add up to much either. Contrast that...

Re: Terrorism coverage and small business GL
Good point, InsMgmt. But what is a "certified act of terrorism" and has the US ever had one since TRIA's incpetion? TRIA offers "coverage for losses resulting from acts of terrorism, as defined in Section 102(1) of the Act: The term “act of terrorism” means any act that is certified b...
