Re: What will it take to Sell?
The soft market is the reason they are NOT selling. Their books are down 20%+ and many around here are riding it out. Their investment/retirement accounts are down 25%+ from peaks in 2006, so the financial cushion for retirement is gone. When the hard market hits, there will be a tidal wave of books...

Re: Trucking markets Ca & Nv all lines
There are really only 3 household mover markets nationwide: Vanliner (merging with National Interstate); TransGuard; and Movers Choice (AIG Paper). There may be a few E/S markets writing them, but those 3 have a bulk of the marketplace.

Re: Commercial Trucking Coverage MGA
Swett & Crawford has a good transportation division. They have most of the markets you listed, but not sure if they have contracts for CA due to the unique nature of transportation risks there. Great West will only contract directly. Good luck! The trucking marketplace is crazy right now. There ...

Re: Making the switch! AM to CL Producer
Your salary potential will increase tenfold by switching to a sales role - and you will someday work only for yourself, which is a bigger reward. Try it out now, before you have commitments (wife, kids, mortgage) that could prevent you from taking the plunge. Just know the risks involved, including ...

Re: Marketing Services????? New Biz?????
We have been happy with Beacon Marketing, who we have been using for fleet trucking business for about a year. Close ratio is not as good as if we did it on our own, but the ROI has made the investment well worth it. Service is very good, too.

Moving/Storage Goods Company in IL with Losses
Looking for a trucking primary auto market for a long-haul moving/storage trucking company located in IL. There are a couple of significant losses (1 at fault, 1 bad luck) in the past couple years, and some frequency losses. Our team is working with them and connecting them to some industry safety c...

If you're running up against American Family on larger frame habitation properties, run the other way unless there is a glaring issue with the current agent. AmFam's pricing on frame apartments is cheap, and I've seen property rates lower than $0.10. Approach with great caution.

It they're brick buildings smaller than 36 units, The Distinguished Programs are great. Properties need to be rehabbed within last 15-20 years, no aluminium wiring, and no frame construction. For frame or large properties, there are few options. Philadelphia, Fireman's Fund, Hannover and Walnut Grou...

Re: CA - Workers Comp. for Trucking firm w/bad MVR's
I have a trucking company with $400,000 in payroll, no prior WC coverage, no losses, 9 drivers with NOT very good MVR’s. Class code 7219 that hauls primarily produce with a 200 miles radius based in Los Angeles, California only. This applicant was rejected by AIG and more recently by Praetorian Ins...

Re: Reefer breakdown - Having a claims issue..
Reefer units break down all the time, hoses come loose, etc. Yes, you should inspect at least every 30 days, but most companies will inspect weekly, if not more often. I created a simple vehicle maintenance checklist for my small trucking clients that drivers or mechanics can use to show they're doi...

Re: Help with a Niche
I'm a newer producer in a large commercial agency. I think the best approach to being successful in this business is to establish myself as an expert in a niche. Having said that, I don't know what niche I should be targeting. I would like to stay away from construction and manufacturing as there i...

Re: Personal Auto Policy - Teen Driver and Title Issues
You need a signed driver exclusion form for the umbrella policy as well. The auto form is most likely only going to exclude coverage if he's driving one of the listed cars; NOT any excess exposure this client faces if son only carries minimum liability on his own policy. Because he's a dependent re...

Here in PA, even if Poppa's name isn't on the title, if Junior is a resident relative, Poppa's on the hook for it. (Heck, even if the kid ISN"T a resident relative, if it can be proven that Junior is financially dependent on Poppa, which I'm sure he is, Poppa's still in the hot seat). Exclusio...
