Re: CPCU - complete 12-18 months?

I got my score back less than 24 hours after taking my CPCU test this weekend. The 1-2 weeks may be a buffer in case they are running behind? While saying someone did the CPCU program in less than a year sounds sexy, I think it's not normal by any stretch. Yes! You can make millions selling vacuums ...

CPCU multiple choice

The CPCU has been changed. 520, 530 and 540 are multiple choice tests as of 2010. This goes to show that the economy takes a tool at all levels. One of my teachers told me that back in the day AIG and other large carriers sent all their people to classes the institute had. Now a few scattered folks ...

Re: Looking to buy used CPCU study materials

I didn’t start a group on Facebook, but I did see one group called “CPCU candidates” which is full of people across the country sharing ideas and giving feedback on study habits and tests. This group should be a great resource to get books and learn about the process of taking the classes. It appear...

Re: Looking to buy used CPCU study materials

Goodluck88- I have the 510 book, but will not be completed til after 2010 Joel66 – I have the Keir 520 study book. Let's work something out. I would be open to trade material for future classes if you have any. Maybe a GenY question… but should we start a Facebook group for used cpcu study material?...

I'm taking Agency Management soon. Some folks in my office have studied ahead of time to take advantage of the course. Anyone else have additional study tips for this test?

Re: CPCU - Worth it right now?

Do you think 530 was more difficult than 520, the accounting book? Most people I've heard have said 520 is most difficult? Perhaps they are close? In answering the questions for the test, if an answer asks "describe", how many sentences is necessary to complete the question? Sometimes two ...

Re: CPCU - Need specfic study advice

I really appreciate the feedback everyone. Another question. While taking the practice test on the CD there are questions which could be answered with a few quick words. Example: Give the 4 primary goals for insurance regulation. (made that up) Could I just list out those 4 things or is more informa...

CPCU - Need specfic study advice

I’m studying for my first CPCU test and was hoping to get your advice. I just completed the INS courses, which are much easier than CPCU (from what I’ve heard). Of the 4 study segments listed below what do you feel is the best way to study? I’ve heard various arguments for different ways. If you’ve ...

Re: Questions from a new guy

As a young producer who has worked both at a national agency and a regional agency I can say from experience that you are in a tough position. Recently the Magazine "Rough Notes" had an article about one of the most effective agencies that brings on new producers each year. I don't recall ...

Re: Good places to get a job in the insurance industry

Question: does anyone know what the producer hiring process is like for the alphabet houses? how do they replace aging producers? Places like Aon, Marsh and Willis are hiring wet-behind-the-ears college gradgatates (misspelled on purpose) and are trying to quickly educate them on what "risk ma...
