Try Prime Syndicate/EIB in Sandy Utah. They may provide coverage. You may "google" it.

Re: I was hired as CSR; now owner demands I be a producer

Well this real life scenario reminds me of The Golden Rule, "He who has the gold, rules! Also, I am reminded of the famous country song of Johnny Paycheck, "Take this job and shove it." Large retail agencies are probably more likely to have a CSR job description and stick to it. if yo...

Re: Becoming an underwriter

Fast tracking the remaining CPCU classes will certainly enhance your resume, with an insurance carrier, not neccessarily with an agency, since that bunch is sold the CIC bill of goods. Back in the day, many underwriters did become independent agents, but today, not so. The opportunities with large i...

Re: WC California - Small Urgent Care Visits - Good or Bad

As a former claims person, although not in CA, I suspect that the employer is violating CA law by not reporting the injury to the Industrial Commission or whatever it is called in CA. That would subject him to fines. Also, he already has a problem as a result of not reporting injuries, particularly ...

Re: Affordable Care Act: A Brief Explanation

Not only is the explanation "brief" it is incorrect in that it says none of the premium is applied to administrative cost. There is a maximum % of the premium that can be charged to administrative costs. And the added benefits are nice, but there is a cost attached to them. And that "...

Re: Certificates of Insurance ???

If you endorse a policy, you must send a copy of the endorsement to the insured. You are getting paid a commission to handle the insured's account. Earn it!!! Having handled E & O claims for a major direct writer, it is clear that most resulted from a lack or common sense and laziness on the par...

Re: Designation Suggestions

Having earned both CIC and the CPCU designations, CIC is basically "Insurance 101" for agency personnel while the CPCU and CRM programs will provide a comprehensive world view of the insurance industry, including risk analysis, rate making, reinsurance, accounting and economics. When the C...

Re: Track Your CSR's Daily Sales Activity

If the agency has any kind of management system for recording sales and commissions, it will tell you which employees are producing. In our agency, all employees except administrative are on some commission basis. Commission is easy tracked and the incentive is a bigger paycheck.

Re: Progressive Weasling?

What amazes me, is the comments made by what I presume to be insurance "professionals" in response to the newspaper story. It is clear that many are misinformed or totally uninformed. The accident that took Ms. Fisher's life was a tragedy. If the writer wanted to get a clear understanding ...

Re: Adding Value? Who Cares? And, who gets mad?

"Adding value" or doing what you are required to do as an agent of the insurer, is the question. Knowledge to the agent is knowledge to the insurer. If you dont report the insured's "claim" you have left yourself wide open to an error and omission claim and possibly a "bad f...

Re: Agent no legal duty to inform on cancellations?

After 42 years in this business, from claims, underwriting, retail and wholesale, let me offer this advice. Use common sense. If you have an insured that pays a premium of $100,000 per year. You get paid a substantial commission. He misses a payment. Are you going to try and keep that account and th...

Re: Salary- CPCU

I am a CPCU with 40 years of experience, claims and sales. CPCU is a worthwhile endeavor, but so is the CIC program. CPCU is more complex and gives a "bigger picture." The CRM program likewise gives itse designees a broader understanding of risk and how to deal with it. The people who make...

Re: Do you purchase Damage Waiver when renting a car?

If you are an insurance agent and are asked by an insured, you had better tell them "yes, buy it." The auto coverage that you write will not pay the rental company for diminished value NOR the loss of income it would have earned during the repair or replacement of the rental unit. The rent...

Re: What is your broker of record policy?

As a wholesaler and Lloyd's cover holder, we have a niche market and many agents competing for the same business. We do not accept BOR's. When we did, we spent too much time with 5 day letters back and forth, so now we refuse them. I have not had a problem with our existing agent force, as they unde...
