Re: Why am I still an Agent?
I have spent the last 2 days re-quoting clients who have had coverage with me for several years. I told them when they emailed me that they had a very good rate and the coverage was quite exceptional. Of course they said they wanted to get a lower rate. I called and asked why and they said because t...

Re: Why am I still an Agent?
Detroitgirl2 - Do I expect to cover my costs when I get paid? The answer is no. I spent so much time doing quotes for people who were going to be on Medicaid that I lost money because I was not working with paying clients. The amount I am going to get paid will cover about 25% of my costs (advertisi...

Re: Why am I still an Agent?
Am I selling health insurance, to a degree yes. I don't like doing it because it is not worth the time and effort. The great and mighty one has taken away all incentive in selling health insurance with the website anyone can use. And, if you do get someone in your office who can't use healthcare.gov...

Re: Why am I still an Agent?
I have been going back and forth on charging a fee for service like many of the Agents do. My problem, unlike "Smalltownagent" is that I have new offices all around me. In the last 2 years 5 new offices have opened up within 2 miles of my office. Many of these are former captives who did n...

Re: Why am I still an Agent?
Sports_Agent - interesting reply but do I agree or disagree with a change in career, yes, I do agree. I will most likely have one. The sad part is, I do love to sell insurance and advise people on what is necessary for their protection. Do people buy Lexus, Benz, Infinity for the quality? Yes. But t...

Why am I still an Agent?
I was having a conversation with one of my Account Representatives yesterday and it was not a "happy" one. I was asked why I was not producing that much in new business for the company. I had said in the past the rates were too high in my area for specific products and he agreed but still ...

Re: New Phone Line System Help
I moved over to VoIP years ago and do not regret it one bit. The flexibility is fantastic in regards to working from home, being out on the road or out of the office. I really like that my voice mails are emailed to me so I can put them into the clients records, I use electronic filing, and can refe...

Re: It can happen to us too
Serial numbers can help because they are tracked by the police and distributed to pawn shops. Now, if they are sold on the "black market" then it will obviously do no good. But most of these guys are looking for a quick buck and pawn shops are it. You may have Dell but I did not and with t...

It can happen to us too
We always tell our clients to do certain things to protect their assets such as, get the make, model and serial number of your high value items. Well, I did this but not for everything in my office. Last Tuesday, the 15th of October, my office was broken into and several items were stolen, my laptop...

Re: Paperless Environment
I have been paperless since I went IA over 3 years ago. I was with Nationwide before and started going paperless back then but they liked the paper up until I showed how easy it was. In fact, Nationwide used my office as kind of a test bed when they started really looking into it. But I left shortly...

Re: Credit Card Processing
You may want to look at SQUARE - http://www.cardpaymentoptions.com/credit-card-processors/square-review/ . It is no cost and reliable. But I will tell you do not use NorthAmerican Bancard. Their fees change from month to month and they always have an explination and when I try and find it on the fee...

Re: Best mgmt system for small agency
James - if you are looking for a small easy to use system I may have a solution for you. I use ACT! and have built a template for it. I have given the template to many new agents and they really like it. Shoot me an email at tbeyer@thebeyeragency and I we can discuss.

Re: Keeping Track of prospects
I actually wrote a database for ACT and it keep track of your clients and their information. Also has a status for the client so if they are a prospect, quoted, waiting on the client anything like that. All you need is ACT and get in touch with me for the database. My email address is tbeyer@thebeye...

Re: Credit Card Processing
I am also a small agency and do very few credit card transactions. The rate is one piece of the pie but the monthly fee is what can eat you up. With some companies if you don't do over a certain amount the fee can be $20.00 per month. However, if you do a lot of transactions you will get a better ra...

Re: Credit Card Processing
I have been shopping mine around as well. The best rate I have found has been with Trinity Merchant Group. You could contact Matthew Perry at 817.459.0707 or matthewperry@trinitymerchantgroup.com. They are actually going to be able to use my current machine and have ACH, online processing the whole ...
