Re: What to expect from a new producer
At some point, you just have to cut your losses. Move on. My best success with producers is college marketing / business students. They want to learn. They have bills to pay. When they graduate, they move on or they move up in your organization.

Re: Adding Value? Who Cares? And, who gets mad?
A sad case of danmed if you do, damned if you dont. Currently have one going on where a client did a side job that went wrong. Was contacted by the carrier before I heard from insured. Claimnt gave them a copy f the check she paid him with and he says she bought him a bottle of Captian Morgan. MAke ...

Re: Farmers vs. Independent
Not really surprising. Isn't P.H. somewhere in the Upper Management Mix over there? As an Illinois Agent, I had such high hopes with him coming out of Agency in Ill. Thought there would be some loyalty to his home state, his former peers and his former policy holders.

Re: Farmers vs. Independent
So, you have to pay them $300 @ year to have their contract? Do they think they are that great of a company. Here in IL, they are not that competitive. Usually an easy sale.

Re: Farmers - your opinion
When the Bristol People took over, they introduced a "New Platform" that came up with lower rates. Maybe the Bristol people took over programing and that alone lowers the rates. One thing seems to escape people here, no matter where you go for your start in this business, its not easy. eve...

Re: Start up Agency Advice
When I was making the jump from Captive to Independant, my direct appointments told me to stay away from Clusters. One bad agent can spoil it for the entire cluster. If your going on your own, go on your own. Just my opinion.

Re: Farmers - your opinion
Once again, no mention of FIGS loyalty to their long time clients. 35% lower auto rates to new business. When the agent tries to get their existing business the lower new business rates, they get reprimanded.

1) Cole X Date Services. 200+ monthly mailing. 2) When I write one, I do Neighbor Hood Marketing. Back to Cole Services for 100 of their closest neighbors telling them exactly how much their neighbors saved mailing. 3) Newspapers do blasts to every HH in my County and all surounding. For $220.00 it...

Re: Farmers vs. Independent
This subject just keeps coming around and around and around. 2.5 years out of Farmers and my volume is much higher then it was. Had $1.5 Mil, left Farmers dipped down to $700K. Should be over $2M by end of my third year out. Of course, I chase the commercial paper and am putting volume on in $15 -$2...

If your independant, contact your market rep. They should be able to sniff out a buyer quickly.

Re: Purchasing X-Date Data
On the logic of insurance being from the date of house purchase, wouldn't this also seem to hold for the date of business incorporation (for small commercial business)? Whilst unlikely to be as exact a match as the home owner purchase - it should be a decent guide. Has anyone tried that? Scott Its ...

Re: Purchasing X-Date Data
All Realestate Transactions are listed - Commercial and Residential. I ran a query yesterday. June 2010 - July 2010. 284 total transactions with my low search being $200K and no ceiling. I looked past three different town that are of a large population - including 4th largest in my state due to Gang...

Now for the obvious - The local newspapers prints Realestate Closings and New Births. Tuesdays in my neck of the woods. Usually at least 30+ a week.
It prints Sale Price, Buyer Name, Seller name and, yes - the address & PIN#.
And it gets delivered to you.
