My money would be on D's assessment of the situation but would love to hear I'm wrong.

Re: HO-6 or DP1 DP2 for a rental condo
I believe you would want a tenant occupied HO6. I know such a policy is offered by at least some carriers.

Re: Agent Compensation Ideas
Agents currently have no skin in the game so to speak. Carriers need to figure out a way to compensate agents for good business because profit sharing agreements only line the pockets of Principals which doesn't help on the actual transaction. Not saying we should get rid of profit sharing with age...

Re: Client wnders why his HO premium went up
The company did not make $1,360 in premiums. The numbers you provided appear to be the amounts paid to the insured and do not include loss adjustment expenses which could easily exceed $1,360.

Re: Geico or Elephant
Elephant doesn't "cut rates." They usually accomplish the cheaper premium by having the customer request to be sent back to sales to receive a rewrite under the current new business rates, versus their renewal rates. Sometimes customers will go online and requote themselves under new busi...

Got it. They probably have different underwriting companies with different rates. This practice is prohibited in some but not all states.

How does the practice you describe work? An insured calls Geico to cancel and gets transferred to Elephant?
Elephant Insurance Company is owned by Admiral Group Plc out of the UK so the cable company retention analogy isn't applicable because the business is going to another company.

Re: Imprezzio Marketing: SEO Firm
I agree with much of what d says. Here is a good thread about SEO from a few years back http://www.insurancejournal.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3675 . From what I've read and seen SEO is playing less and less of a role in the SERPs as Google and other companies are learning to control for it.

Re: CA-Guaranteed Replacement Cost
There is at least one scenario where GRC could be helpful: If there was a major event that caused damage to a very large number of homes at the same time (e.g. a massive fire), the price of construction materials and labor could rise dramatically. If the price of concrete, wood, labor etc. doubled, ...

Re: SEO and buying back links
Buying links is a questionable SEO tactic. Why not just do your best to produce quality content and hope that the links naturally follow? After taking a look at your site's content and source code, I believe your current Google SERP position of 6 for "coeur d'alene insurance" and 4 for &qu...

Re: Online Insurance Shoppers
The question was about shoppers - consumers that get a quote, regardless of whether they purchase or not. I think the profile for buyers is much clearer than that of shoppers. From what I've heard and read buyers tend to skew younger, purchase lower limits etc., and are not representative of the gen...

I think the quality of these last two posts is indicative of the poor quality of many recent posts. It's seems clear to me that both of these posts and many more on other topics are simply spamming the message board so they can include their link in the signature line. They're transforming a useful ...
