Re: Compensation Ideas: Unique Situation; Inside Producer, Supplied Leads w/Benefits

If you are serious about no ownership and no contact or duties after sale, then why would you consider any kind of renewal commission? Pay them well for what they do, but don't pay them for what they don't do. I can see a small bonus for retention of renewing the first year or maybe just a slight ho...

Re: Garage Dealers E&O Policy

Think again about the situation you are asking about. If you botch the oil change and after you are done, blow the engine, that is not precisely the item you were working on and is likely covered. If you do an engine rebuild and it doesn't run right, then that is not covered. Think about a brake job...

Re: Agent Compensation Ideas

Most Companies I have seen who complain about having to cut commissions to remain competitive are losing renewals and new quotes by 10% or often much more. Frequently it is over 20%. They are just trying to blame their competitive disadvantage on the agents when it goes much deeper. Progressive and ...

Re: Travelers reducing commissions

Once again d's is right. The local agent is going the way of travel agents, book stores, and to a lesser degree hardware stores. I recall 20 and 30 years ago you could go to an agents meeting and see some pretty prosperous people with homes in Florida or large boats. Now, not so much. The money and ...

Re: Agency Management System

If you bave a small agency and any brains you can set up your own agency management system by taking courses to learn Microsoft Access and Excel......and save a ton of money by doing so. If you do that and use Office online you don't even have the software resident on your computers. Its automatica...

Re: Agency Management System for Ocean Marine

There are way too many unknowns to give you a complete answer. How many users in your office? Do you currently have a management system? How complicated is your accounting? Do you have to keep track of sub-brokers commissions, split commissions of producers, etc? Do you want to have searchable custo...

Re: Franchise Agencies

Sorry, but it just seems that you don't understand the business. By the way, you probably mean aggregator. Your question illustrates your inexperience. Imagine going to Chevrolet, Ford or Toyota and telling them you want to start up a new dealership. You will not get them to talk to you even if you ...

Re: New Agency Management System

I need to point out that the original poster wanted a commercial lines agency solution. A vendor that only relies on Quickbooks for accounting is definitely a system for small personal lines or at least direct bill agencies only.

Re: Agency Management System

All of the needs you are looking for can be handled by Applied Epic. Yes, it is expensive, but if you are doing that many Certs a day then you are already paying out the money in employee man hours. The accounting is much more flexible than QB which is really just for small agencies. If you really a...

Re: Agency Management System

VLA, take a look at Hawksoft. I think if you are not ready to pay for AMS or Applied, they are a decent choice. They use QB for accounting and also have the forms, database, and activity tracking you need.

Re: Agency Management System

Since you are already talking to Nexsure, I think I would get names of 5 agencies in your state which are customers and ask several of them and go see the agency without the salesman along. Applied Systems Epic is the fasted growing system out there and in spite of a few people here who may not have...

Re: Applied EPIC vs. antivirus

Lots of agents use Sophos or Norton successfully. I can't imagine that you are unable to add safe areas to AVG. It definitely sounds like an AVG problem. Try asking the question on the Applied User Group newsgroups.

Re: HO-15 vs HO-5

You will need to read the HO 5 policy and compare it to the HO-3 policy with the HO-15 Endorsement, then you need to read all of the endorsements attached to each policy, as each of the endorsements may affect the entire policy. Be careful if you are comparing ISO and "Non-ISO" contracts....

Re: Moving (driving) cars between 2 locations. What coverage

It sounds very similar to a valet parking exposure. Try writing it with companies which write that kind of risk on a Garage policy.
