Re: Federal Excise Taxes?

Trobo: Thank you for your input. We brokered this US only exposure deal direct with one of our London based wholesalers. I provided our insured with the proper tax forms and instructions. The insured/buyer forwarded same to their in house accounting department for proper handling. So far, no questio...

You might also check out Gresham & Associates. They have some pretty good MGA programs that have served me well on more than a few occasions. Good luck!

Re: Federal Excise Taxes?

Ladydog: Wish it were true but apparently not. The state really does not care what the Federal guys do and I think it is also true that the Feds do not care what the states do. They are two separate tax levying/collecting entities. A good analogy is my personal taxes. In my state (Georgia) we have t...

Re: Federal Excise Taxes?

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I checked with several w/sale brokers and each one that had experience in dealing with this particular carrier did advise that the Fed Excise Tax was required. While I am not certain, I do suspect that most US based w/salers would collect and file this tax along with wha...

Federal Excise Taxes?

We recently placed an excess property layer with an E+S insurer that is domiciled in Bermuda. We placed this cover via a London based broker. We have been advised that our client will be responsible for paying a 4% Federal Excise Tax in addition to paying the normal surplus lines tax for our particu...

Arrowhead is another wind market to consider. Access to them via wholesalers.

Word has it that Citizens is probably going to have to increase rates dramatically in the very near future. They were supposed to the market of last resort in lieu of "THE MARKET."

Agent in AL: I think that you will find that Citizens is the market. ICAT has serious problems in FL right now and there seems to be very little capacity with other domestics and/or London. Based on your username, I assume that you are located in AL. What markets are writing wind down in Mobile Bay ...

IinsureU: At a 35% producer split, you are looking at $68,425 annually if you keep up the same pace. So, if your draw were wet up at say $50,000, you will exceed your draw very quickly (that is a good thing). If this occurs, you will receive a normal paycheck based on the draw ($50,000) and will the...

You have noted that one of the limitations of the act is the $5,000,000 limitation. More to the point, the act cannot be a "certified act" unless the losses resulting from the act, in the aggregate, do not exceed $5,000,000. Therefore, a $4,000,000 loss due to an otherwise qualifying act o...
