Re: California - Racing insurance for Private Autos
This is going to continue to be a specialty market and with a high rate/deductible. There just isn't enough market to drive this to a better price. I have a close friend who does timing for BMW and Porsche clubs throughout the country. He will argue that it isn't "racing" but "driver ...

Re: Banks - Unfair Trade Practices
gregcw - I would disagree that it is illegal based on what you posted. " You may not engage in any practice that would lead a consumer to believe that an extension of credit, in violation of section 106(b) of the Bank Holding Company Act Amendments of 1970 (12 U.S.C. 1972), is conditional upon ...

Re: Nationwide
Nationwide has been trying to make inroads into the commercial space for years. Historically they were not, but with the purchase of Allied in the 90's and Harleysville in 2012(or so) they are trying to get bigger in that line of business through aquiring companies and expanding their knowledge. In ...

Re: insurance metal homes
Retired1- The company I work for find these homes ineligible due to the inability of determining a proper reconstruction cost (estimators aren't designed for that "type" which can be especially concerning in value policy states),possible claims problems (use a general contractor or someone...

Re: how to switch from agency side to corporate underwriting
Yo- I worked as a captive and then transitioned over to the corporate side as an underwriter. Over the years I have progressed well through various underwriting lines of business and positions. Not sure where you are, but being near a main office I think is certainly a benefit. Not many companies ar...

Re: Do I need to schedule fine arts?
Probably the bigger issues are breakage and mysterious disappearance. Art doesn't have to be big to be expensive, but typically it will not be taken out of the home. The vast majority of the time it will be a theft loss (versus jewelry being lost). Breakage would be the one for fine arts. An ISO HO5...

Historic homes-districts
I am inquiring on the availabilty of carriers that would be a good place to market homes that are on a national/state/local registry and/or located within a recognized district. I have read all of the variables that go into the registration and many of the reconstruction requirements that surround t...

Re: high value homes
Allied does have a competitve product to offer for high value homes, but at this time it is limited to the California market. Not sure when they plan on moving into other markets.

Re: Danger in adding landlord as additional insured?
There is no reason to add the landlord to your policy. By doing so will often create more grey areas than making it a black and white issue. If added as an addtional insured you and your insurance company will give up your right to sue/subrogate as he is a named insured on your policy. If he doesn't...

Re: Umbrella for Nevada LLC
Is the risk currently written commercially or on a personal policy? As an LLC it should be on a commercial policy, but I have seen companies agree to write LLC's on personal lines for an exposure like this one.

Re: Home in Protection Class 8
I guess I would verify the protection class that you are giving. Typically a home w/ hydrants over 1000ft and over 5 miles from a FD is going to be classed as a PC10. Did the company that writes the primary home already decline to write? Is it a wildfire hazard? Why ASAP? Lapse in coverage? There ar...
