Re: Life Insurance Companies for Independent Agents?
Perhaps there is a local agent group - part of Big I, NAHU etc, that you could network with to see what other agents in your area think of the various MGA options available? I'm no help on this one since I'm across the company and we don't use any of the GAs you mentioned. We had some business roll ...

Re: Life Insurance Companies for Independent Agents?
As d's insurance store said, a good MGA offers multiple carriers and an online quoter with a health analyzer. You should also be able to have a underwriter/new case contact who you can ask for more detailed pre-screens, follow up with them on applications that are pending, etc. The local MGA I use h...

Re: Life Insurance Companies for Independent Agents?
I'm not in FL, but we use a local MGA here in our state. If you can find a great MGA I would recommend going that route - they can provide great help with underwriting and service of existing policies. The MGA gets an override from the carriers, they do not take a portion of our comission. (I do not...

Re: Progressive Weasling?
I'm on the West Coast so not familiar w/Maryland laws, but a quick search online shows that UM is not required. If the deceased didn't have UM then Progressive technically had nothing to pay out on...still slimy that they represented the other party in court.

Re: Excluded Driver Surcharge
Mica, I tend to disagree. I can think of a few that have a surcharge for adding a Named Driver Exclusion. It is an endorsement to the policy. And it's not being charged a premium per se, but a fee or surcharge. I doubt that none of these insurance companies filed with the states' DOIs to do so.

Re: Excluded Driver Surcharge
It is not uncommon in AZ or even other states. Most of my companies that even offer an exclusion will surcharge for it.

Re: Staffing Agency
I've been involved with a staffing agency for about 1 month but they have never called me for a job..however, when I was looking on their website I noticed that they have openings for the exact type of work I signed up for..why haven't they called me for those jobs? Is it because the employer isn't...

Re: Auto Liability basics
ISO's most recent AZ PAP (personal auto policy) shows the following: OTHER INSURANCE If there is other applicable liability insurance we will pay only our share of the loss. Our share is the proportion that our limit of liability bears to the total of all applicable limits. However, any insurance we...

Re: Auto Liability basics
I do believe that there may be exclusions to the extention of liability if the vehicle being driven does not have insurance. I would ready every single part of that policy. AZ (and CA too for that matter) have some unique insurance laws.

Re: Progressive Personal Lines
We have them available mainly for non-standard auto. Even though that's not our target market, we'll have the clients who will need an SR-22 or such and need a place to put them.

Re: coverage on property with adult foster care business
I had a tenant-homeowners in Portland who operated an adult foster care/day care out of the home he was renting. The company wanted off (not due to the property issues but due to the liability issues, even though he had a commercial policy, since they could still be liable). None of my standard carr...
