Re: Workers comp ghost policy
I think the ghost policy referred here means a WC policy without, and not expecting any actual employee/payroll. It is simply to meet contractual requirements.

I believe for the terrorism coverage to trigger, it needs to be certified by the secretary of state.

Re: Non-Compete Agreement
I have no idea how often those "non-compete" agreements are actually enforced by prior employer, but I doubt many would go through the trouble unless they're hurt by your action. If your move is a done deal, I'd suggest you to discuss the matter with both the new and old employers. Most em...

Re: State Farm Personal Articles Policy
there should be some coverage for the bike then, unless they have a high deductible. You can always get a standalone policy though. Some may not be too fond of writing bikes, and may require the insured to have some jewelry coverage.

Re: State Farm Personal Articles Policy
Not a SF agent - sorry can't help answering it. I'm curious, however, which homeowner carrier you used for the client? They have a sublimit on bicycles?

Re: HO-6 or DP1 DP2 for a rental condo
I've seen 2 ways carriers insuring a tenant occupied condo. Some carriers developed separate products for such situation, and called it HO9/DP9 (at least informally). Others simply use the regular HO6 form, but a "Unit occupied by tenant" endorsement needs to be added. The latter is probab...

Re: Commercial auto
Commercial auto in CA has been pretty tough for a couple of years now. Many carriers are now requiring supporting business. However, there are still many write artisan contractors - Mercury, Travelers, Kemper Specialty, Metlife, Amtrust, Nationwide & Progressive. Guard's rates, however, is very ...

Re: Advice on switching to independent
You can probably start by looking at which carriers the brokers have direct appointment - either through its website or DOI's website. If the broker has multiple carriers that typically only write preferred risks/Good driver policy, such as Safeco/Travelers/Metlife/Kemper Preferred, then there's a g...

Re: Out of State License Requirements
I think you do need a non-resident license if the policy is written by carrier you're directly appointed. If you're writing the policies through a wholesale broker, that broker needs to be licensed in those states - not too sure about whether you still need to have or not.

Re: Binding Coverage Same Day as Quote
Which state are you in? There're a lot carriers allow same day binding in California. Some may issue the policy effective the next day, but binding coverage when the agent receive everything - signed apps, payment etc - and click "bind".

Re: BOP vs. Commercial Package Policy
There are quite a few standard carriers writing artisan contractor on BOP now. Some may have limited property coverage that cannot be increased, but GL side is pretty standard ISO forms. But I'm surprised MetLife would write someone works on Medical facilities.

Re: Drive other car
If they have DOC, why do they need a separate non-owned policy? Personal line non-owned policy typically has lower limits, and does not cover Comp. & Coll.gforaker wrote:This client really needs a named non-owner personal auto policy.

Re: Drive other car
I think the DOC form - at least the carriers we use - automatically includes the spouse if the spouse is in the same household. So there's probably no need to list both name on the Husband's policy. If that's confirmed, I'd say only list Mr. on Mr.'s Corp policy, and list Mrs. on Mrs. LLC policy.
