Personal lines is too high maintenance, certainly not worth all the work for such little payout. I worked in PL for 18 yrs. Now CL. I'm not a producer, but know how the clients are; PL=fickle, less educated than commercial lines clients so it takes much longer to build trust. PL is very hard to get ...

Ditto to MAG's answer. Whenver it falls within auto status of policy or pre-agreed by underwriter (which is usually same as our binding powers) we issue certs ASAP. Out the door. Esp. landlord of premises, that's a given. Most carriers build those in on blanket form, which requires written agreement...

You DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR and unfortunately, many women CSRs are taken advantage of by small agencies. Move on girl! Go to interviews, sell your self motivation etc. PLEASE DON'T ANYONE take any of this as a criticism, this is my opinion and what I have seen since out of college in 1983. It is sti...

I hope the poor sec. making only $20k is getting very good health care package. If he/she is licensed by the State, he/she is MORE than a receptionist/secretary and deserves more than $20k. Yikes. I say give her more responsibility, increase her pay AND offer her flat bucks for obtaining Home or Aut...

I have been against credit scoring since they started it in NY many years ago. I am not convinced it is all THAT wonderful as an indicator of risk. When I was in personal lines, most of my wealthy clients were the worst drivers (parents, not just kids), stupid loss control, and had the young kids dr...

$40? Where? We paid $330 for each female child to take it at our high school. And our third child will be taking next year, for maybe $350 by then. Our children receive the dr ed discount. I ought to know, I was a Pers lines csr for 18 years before I moved over to commercial. I know what we paid bef...
CPCU: I took my first one as class (to check it out), the rest self study. Class was not as helpful as I expected, considering it was a full semester two nights a week for like 3 hrs or something. Self-Study OR class=USE THE STUDY MANUALS - question/answers workbook! That will get you through the te...

When I handled Personal Lines (for 17 yrs) I rewrote HO policies mid-term many times. My personal handling would NOT depend on the bank to call agent. I would handle transaction more hands on. Ask your customer for a copy of the backside of their mortgage statement where you will find all the bank s...

I was in personal lines for 17 yrs when I moved over to CL. I had handled some small commercial and filled in for commercial csrs who worked PT or on maternity leave - but it had been 10 yrs between the last true commercial exp and my move. When I moved, I was personal lines manager. I actually find...
